Not necessarily. Speed is obviously helpful in 3 on 3, but like playing on Olympic sheets, having poise with the puck trumps all. Puck possess is the single most important factor. Speed is nice, but it doesn’t help you get the puck back

You're right, he wasn't. The last goal wasn't completely on him, as Letang made a crafty play to use the defender as a screen, but that's still a save he's got to make and overall, he was pretty bad. Jarry had another sub .900 game also, so it's no surprise 7 goals were scored.

On a side note, Letang has 7 points (4g, 3a) in his last 4 games. His minutes are in the low 20's as opposed to upwards of 30, and that's undoubtedly because the defense is playing better as a whole. When Dumo comes back, if he can reach the level he is capable of, they could have a very good blue line.

I'm not sure Jarry's sv% last night was indicative of the game he played.

Barzal's goal was off a weird deflection off the defender's stick, and the other two were one-timers that the D didn't take away and Jarry had little or no chance on.

Kind of a weird takeaway from the game, imo.

“It’s ok to let in literally any deflection” is a bad hockey fan trope. Meow isn’t saying that, exactly, but it’s one of the reasons Murray could trick Ottawa into that contract. A puck would be deflected at the opposite blue line and he’d let it in with a “Deflection!” Excuse from internet team murray. And alas, there was literally nothing he could do.

I’ve seen goalies save deflections. Seems like Varly could have had that one.

Tips are a fickle beast. 95% of tips are going go to end up with me giving the goalie a pass. I watched the GWG again to make sure I'm not talking out of my ass here. I don't think Varly makes that save regardless of the tip or not. It seemed to just deaden it and not redirect it too much. He was so far off his angle, that was probably going in either way.

Did Jarry get handcuffed since he decided to commit earlier to the possible cross since Malkin i think didn't have body position in front. Like he guessed wrong. It looked bad though
