Whats the cap implications? Hard to believe better than dumping him on some floor team and retaining a piece, but who the hell knows. Just glad the JJ era is over

Really, really hard to believe they couldn't find a team willing to take him at 2.25M or so. Call in a favor from a friend... something.
Thats a lot of dead cap for a long time.

Hard to believe, really?

Fanbase that tore him down for his entire duration as a Penguin is shocked they couldn't find value for him. Cool.

I wouldn't mind living on that for the next 6 years. Might have to cut back a little but still doable.Whats the cap implications? Hard to believe better than dumping him on some floor team and retaining a piece, but who the hell knows. Just glad the JJ era is over

To be fair, it's one person (me) and I didn't really tear him down that much.
Its just... 2M or so isn't much of an impact for a team looking to hit the floor. Definitely in the "do me a favor and ill get you later" cost range.
More than likely they just didnt have good enough picks to put alongside him (go figure) to get it done.
It's not crippling, but definitely a thorn in the side well into the 2020s.

That would be my guess. Picks or prospects.

Yeah, I wasn't picking on you. Just easier to make the jab than to acknowledge that GMJR dug himself a hole that he didn't have the capability to get himself out of. Whether that be money or influence. To be fair, it's one person (me) and I didn't really tear him down that much.

Slight nuance here.
Jack Johnson has value.
Jack Johnson and his contract don’t have value.

I'm surprised ol' Jimmy boy had it in him to do this...

Maybe Jimmy called Mario this morning and asked what he wanted for his birthday and the big man told him to own up and eat the contract.

Also, jimbo couldn't care less about the cap from 2023-2026. He will be in St. Barnabas by then

Bad move cap wise. Bury him for 3 years.

Someone can check my math, I'm going round a little...I don't understand.Bad move cap wise. Bury him for 3 years.
So if you bury him his last 3 years, his hit (assuming the minimum wouldn't move) would be 2 million. We save 800k this year and next. The 3rd year is basically a wash.
Now on top of that, we have an additional 3 years of 1 million in dead cap space.
As a team that spends to the cap, I believe burying him was the proper response in this matter.
