I'd rather hold onto Dumo than Schultz

Thanks. Missed this post. (Also, I missed a forward in scenario B.) Any shot you protect a UFA like Bonino over Hagelin or Wilson? Seems extremely unlikely. But I saw a blog post suggesting that.My thread was relative to three players...this thread is relevant to the Expansion Draft as it effects the Pens as a whole...it's a good thread...
Add Hagelin to your second scenario, and that's probably about the size of it right now...
If GMGM is going to Flower, though, I guess this is all academic.

You could...they aren't taking a forward from us anyway unless we make a deal...our attractive pieces are on D and Fleury...they're gonna get the choice of much better forwards...

Yeah, if anything this season gives me a stay of execution...yeah because you need to eat two metal hangers now thanks to him

Seems like Fleury is going. Can they take someone else?
Expansion Draft
Nope. If MAF is exposed and there's a deal in place, they take him and we keep everyone else.

I honestly don't understand why people think that there is a trade in place with Vegas. Literally makes no sense.

Yeah, I don't get that insinuation either really. Maybe it's just like "hey, 29 is available...is that where you're going with this?"
- "Probably."
"Ok, let me know if something changes."
Then again, there's a few ways this can break...so it is ripe for speculation...

Is the Flower the best goalie available?

The rules that you should know before posting opinions on the draft. There are other rules (especially from Vegas' side) but these are all that you need to consider for Pens point of view discussion purposes.
Teams can only protect 7F/3D/1G or 8skaters/1G
The Pens need to expose:
* Two forwards that have played 40 games in the 2016–17 season or 71+ games in the 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons combined and under contract for the 2017–18 season
* One defenceman that has played 40 games in the 2016–17 season or 71+ games in the 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons combined and under contract for the 2017–18 season
* One goaltender that is either either be under contract for the 2017–18 season or will become a Restricted free agent in 2017 (and qualified)
"Career" injured players (mossed 60 games) do not count towards the above quotas. Players with 2 or less years professional experiance are exempt (do not need to be protects, can not be exposed).
Vegas gets 2 days to talk to team's exposed RFAs/UFAs. If they sign one from a team that is considered their pick and they do not draft anyone else from that team.

I'm not convinced that LV is taking Fleury. I think they'd want Schultz or Dumolin.

Malkin, Crosby, Kessel and Letang need to be protected due to NMCs
Guentzel, Sprong, Sheary, Jarry, Rowney, Aston-Reese and others (minor players) are exempt.
* The exposure requirements for forwards means that two of Hornqvist, Hagelin, Rust, Kuhnhackl and Wilson must be exposed. I would say most likely Kuhnhackl and Wilson, but an argument could be made for Hagelin in an attempt to cut cap space.
* The exposure requirements for defensemen means that one of Maatta or Cole must be exposed. I would say Cole for obvious reasons.
* The exposure requirements for goaltenders means that Fleury needs to be exposed. (NOTE: there is currently no other goalie in the Penguin system that meats the requirement for exposure (save Murray). If Fleury gets traded an exposable goalie will need to be brought in or there will be penalties from the NHL (draft pics or possible a second player taken by Vegas).
As it stands I am protecting:
F: Malkin, Crosby, Kessel, Hornqvist, Hagelin, Rust and Sundqvist
D: Letang, Maatta and Doumulin
G: Murray
Therefore, I am exposing (not complete list):
F: Kuhnhackl and Wilson (to fulfill the requirement), Bonino and Kunitz (UFAs). If Bonino resigns (which i do not think that he will do) I protect him over Sundqvist.
D: Cole (to fulfill the requirement), Ruhwedel, Pouliot, Daley and Schultz. I have said before that I think that if the Pens wanted Schultz back at the price that Schultz/agent want, he would already be extended. Plus, I do not think that Schultz is the kind of D that Vegas will want (ie: no real D ability). They may go for him for the RFA compensation value (probably a 2nd)
If you go with 8 over the 7/3 in order to protect 4 D, then you end up only being able to protect one of Hornqvist, Hagelin, Rust, Kuhnhackl, Wilson and Sundqvist; exposing the rest. That would not be a sane move.

If you are of the mind that the Pens will trade Fleury to Vegas... then the Pens have no goalie to expose other than Murray. As Fleury waived and can be exposed, there technically is no longer a "need" to move him. The main reason to move him was in order to be able to protect Murray (after an exposable goalie was brought in as well). Yeah, cap space, sure... but that is not really a "need". If Vegas wants Fleury, he is exposed... take him. If they take someone else, fine, then we have the best goaltending tandem in the league.

I'm hoping for the best and this is it. ^^^I'm not convinced that LV is taking Fleury. I think they'd want Schultz or Dumolin.

Don't really see the relevance of not protecting a lot of people. No matter what, Vegas can only take one of them. So going with the 8 skater option means you get to protect Domu and Schultz. You just have to risk losing Hornqvist, who is only signed for one more year, or Rust.
Expansion Draft
Seems like a fruitless discussion without knowing what other goaltenders will be available. I'd take Schultz or Dumo if say Bishop or Rinne is exposed. Though I suppose Saros is exempt so they'd protect PekkaI'm hoping for the best and this is it. ^^^I'm not convinced that LV is taking Fleury. I think they'd want Schultz or Dumolin.

I actually agree.Sundqvist is not worth protecting.

I don't think the Pens have to "worry" about him being selected (goalie situation aside).
