Yeah, I feel pretty bad for 58. He was playing great all year. We really do need him to win.

Personally, I'm probably still of the mind that if -- big if -- 71 and 58 can come back to full strength in two weeks time we can win the Cup. The letang thing is just killer because there's no way to know, and the dudes been through way too much already healthwise, and now he's at what, reported concussion number 4 or 5?
Letang is a huge wild card right now. It sounds like he hasn't even put on a pair of skates since the hit, so it's hard to see him coming back anytime soon.

I'd let Geno sit until the playoffs at this point, or at least I would if I knew they were in. Maybe give him a game to shake off the rust but that's it.

Yohe doesn't think that's happening.
Malkin was in the locker room offering support to his dejected teammates after the game. He'll play tomorrow. And will be counted on heavily

I'll hope geno goes into beast mode and somehow stays healthy and sparks this team then.

This team has such a weak constitution you might as well call it the articles of confederation.

Yup. I think this team's success hinges on whether or not Letang can be back by the time the first round starts. He's a huge cog in the offense, and isn't bad defensively either. Not many players on the team can move the puck like he can.
Source of the post Lovejoy has bern better than his predecessor.
Cole as well.

Those need to be part of the game recaps. Kicksave did the first one with emotes, a few other since have been really good, including bhaw's above for today, the the NP gif was awesome.

I concur.

Each game needs a emote/gif recap that explains the game in one, simple form.

I'm out of town and didn't see the game. Someone take up meow's morning meeting tomorrow. Unless no one can stomach to revisit the game. Which sounds understandable.
BTW, if no one else wants to do this, I can handle it.

Can we please put to rest the idea that Malkin doesn't care or isn't a leader? The more the season goes on, the more and more it seems he is the engine and heart of the team.

Martin is on that list? Yikes...
Martin is a saint compared to the other 3, though I've been wanting to get rid of Martin for a couple seasons. I've stated my reasons enough on LGP. Guy does only one thing well and that's wave his stick around. He usually just stands there and watches some big forward bully his way into a goal. What else does he do? He can't shoot. He can't hit. He is a major reason this group of defensemen has been nothing short of abysmal the last few years. What I don't understand is Pens fan's emotional attachment to some of these players. How about some roster turnover.

And what has Lovejoy done but be extremely steady?
He was steady right after the trade. The last group of games he's been average or below average. He does nothing special for this team.

You guys don't seem to look at reality. This group of D sucks.

Most importantly, I meant that those 4 can't play together on one team. Maybe 2. Pick your fav two, and lets replace the other 2. They're too similar and too average in all facets.

The only defenseman that doesn't fit is Scuderi. But, a hockey team is fine if the other three are on the blue line. Especially if Letang and Maata are healthy. Add Pouliot and that is a talented blue line. The problem was none were ever healthy long enough. Erhoff was steady until injuries slowed him down. Losing Maata was devastating. Letang is the work horse. Martin is extremely consistent. And Lovejoy provides you insane flexibility. The downfall is you have Scuds and Pouliot that just are quite what you need.
