I’m not sure how I feel. Normally I’d be pretty disappointed but we just played well without him and maybe against a trapping team that feeds off turnovers it’s OK if he misses a few. If anybody is going to turn pucks over in the neutral zone and feed NYI some easy odd man rushes it would be him.
But without him our forward depth takes a hit and being able to roll out our optimal 4 forward lines goes away. Carter becomes 2C instead of 3C and our ideal lineup goes out the window.

Clutterbuck has a little thing going on with Guentzel. Happened in the ‘19 series too. Very normal and very cool that the team is fine with a 4th line scrub harassing their best goal scorer.

So 9 days ago we have a fully healthy team. We have a full week of rest/practice and then yesterday’s 3.5 periods of hockey and we now have 3 guys out. Same old story. I highly doubt any other team in these playoffs will be down their #2 Center, #2 Defenseman, and #2 Goalie heading into their game 2.

Yep. That’s what 3rd/4th liners are supposed to do in the playoffs. Get under the skin of the other team’s skilled players when they can. This team needs an agitator or two way more than they need a fighter or two.
