DeSmith just left practice, apparently slamming his stick on the way out. Great.

Pens Inside Scoop mentioned he looked like he was in pain after making a save.

it's nice that we get all this time off and our team is hopefully able to be full strength for at least one game this season but I feel like long layoffs like this always bite teams in the ass

though the Isles have an equally long layoff I think so maybe it doesn't matter

ber prepared for some ugly hockey

At least both teams have similar layoffs. I'd be more worried if the Isles had just 1-2 days off, but the difference is only one day, IIRC.

Seeing that the Wild made the playoffs made me think of the Jugs trade. Per the trade conditions, Pens get pick 218 if Jugs plays in 70 games or earns 35 points in the 2020-21 season. 17 points in 44 games. 35 was never gonna happen and even if they prorate the games played for the shortened season, 44 of 56 equates to 64ish in a full schedule, so I guess pick 218 will be staying with Minnesota.

We aren’t playing Buffalo. Don’t need him.

I’ve been impressed with Gaudreau to the point that I’m surprised he’s never been able to stick somewhere before. Touching story with his nephew.

why didn't he stick? landed with teams looking for more upside?

looks like the only pro organization he's ever been in is Nashville but went back and forth between their NHL and AHL squad up until he signed with us. Maybe he just needed out of that organization. He's 28 so not exactly a spring chicken but maybe the Preds were just a bad team and he was stuck there for a while

he's absolutely an NHLer from what I've seen this season

Pens are "hopeful" for full capacity by game 5. Interesting

I don’t see that happening. PA is supposed to drop all mitigation at the end of May. Game 7 maybe but if Wolf sticks by his original timeline, full capacity wouldn’t be possible until round 2.

There are states who currently would allow full capacity but the NHL is limiting it to 75% (Nashville for example).

Lovely. Though, there’s a good chance that it’s coach’s decision to keep him ready for tomorrow.

I think they could win the series without him but it (of course) would be easier with him.
