Remember when Hossa joined the Pens and lost to the Wings in the final? And then joined the Wings and lost to the Pens in the finals? Good times

It reminded me of that Drew Carey show episode where someone would file his pencil points down every morning

Also while I knew Hossa won with Chicago I forgot it was literally the year after we won in 2009. 3 Finals with 3 teams in 3 years is ridic

A little bit before Oshie’s goal, Kap had a chance to absolutely obliterate him at the blue line. Like it was so easy that Bjugstad would even have sent him into oblivion.Kapanen played a bit tougher (more physical and defensive) in Toronto. I suppose that is the difference between playing for a coach that wants hockey players and one that wants figure skaters.I wouldn't classify him as that...
But Kap just kinda let Oshie tap the puck and they skated their separate ways. Whoever #10 is did the same thing later, which is pretty ballsy for a grinder trying to earn a check.
Point being that we’re still a bunch of wedgies waiting to happen.

we were a bunch of wedgies waiting to happen in '16 and '17 too but it didn't matter because we had the skill to overcome it
this is what I hated about the Reaves trade. while we want tough guys, we don't want guys who are only tough

Kasperi Kapanen just isn't that tough on a consistent basis...he gets a bee in his bonnet sometimes when he frustrated and he'll make some F1 hard forecheck hits, but he's a lot more fluff than stuff, in really every way...

In 17 we were a hair away from the most lasting memory being Mark Stone punching 140 pound Guentzel in the face about 6 times after the whistle with no one giving a ****. We were lucky that our lack of toughness ultimately didn’t matter. We were stiiiill hanging onto ‘16 swagger.we were a bunch of wedgies waiting to happen in '16 and '17 too but it didn't matter because we had the skill to overcome it

These days we aren’t winning anything and we’re still getting rammed up the butt by any half Neanderthal in the league. I don’t think adding a Reaves means we win, but the team needs to give us something to feel good about when Wilson scumbags our guy and then scores the GWG - which is basically how our season played out in ‘18.
There are still violent chodes all over the place. If we ain’t winning a cup, I want to see some bullies get bullied.

Letang's stick notwithstanding - that's a very high-risk pass for Malkin to attempt with an empty net behind him. Down the wall or on net seemed preferable options there.
Another bugaboo: different standards for judging when a ref has lost sight of the puck (around a net vs amongst a scrum on the wall). Go back to the old days when it was a whistle and a faceoff. None of this running 30 seconds off the clock when no one can see the puck.

Yep. It's frustrating because he'll show you just enough to think he's on the verge of turning a corner, and then he'll disappear for long stretches. Which is fine if he's scoring 30 goals per season... but he's not at that level.Kasperi Kapanen just isn't that tough on a consistent basis...he gets a bee in his bonnet sometimes when he frustrated and he'll make some F1 hard forecheck hits, but he's a lot more fluff than stuff, in really every way...

I know Wilson is a special type of beast ... but what guys in the league have the skill and toughness to go toe to toe with him? Someone that can beat him at his game or do the same things he does. I’m thinking of ... no one maybe? Brady Tkachuk in a few years? Like I honestly don’t know

The only way something gets done about Tom Wilson is if the league grows a pair and gives him a meaningful suspension that doesn't get reduced.

The actual way to get him back is score on the PP when his ass is in the box.

He's been a beast this year now that he seems healthy...but that's the deal with power forwards, right? I mean, who is out there going ham every night at 6'4" 225 and skilled...?

Suspended for what? It was a shtty hit but my God that's nothing more than 2 for interference.
Mikeys list is good. Jumbo and Getzlaf probably could go toe to toe with him when they were younger.

And probably still now to be honest

Because it's at least once or twice a year Wilson does something borderline. Clearly, the guy hasn't learned a damn thing. That hit last night was over a second late, and he, along with the Caps, thought there was nothing wrong with it.
It's a cumulative thing for me. He hasn't learned. The only thing thats going to make the lesson sink in is a lengthy suspension.

Yup. To me there is little to no difference between that hit and a sucker punch.

Well the refs let him take a handful of uncalled charges in the previous 4 periods, so not all entirely on him.
