Clutterbuck is less than a non-issue. Their thing is irrelevant and has no impact on the outcome of...well...any thing

Dumo was a maintenance day. Probably resting the foot that he blocked the shot with.

Geno was taking some contact with Sceviour to test things so that may be a good sign.

Most important thing is that we get Tristan Jarry tomorrow, not Tristan Murray or Matt Jarry.

Low character, low talent teams need things like Clutterbuck laying on top of Guentzel to get their juices flowing.

When the momentum starts to turn against us, teams have a really easy time putting their thumb on the scale with physicality while we take the high road and thank them for the wedgies. I think it does matter.

we took our wedgies in '16 and '17 and won cups both those years. I'm ok with keeping it

Are we sure we have that much more skill and speed than these other teams?

We have been hanging our hat on this speed/skill thing for 3 years now and we have won 1 of our last 11 playoff games. I’m not sure we are so much faster and skilled than these other teams that it makes up for our other shortcomings. I’d just prefer a more balanced roster I guess; one that can play multiple styles if need be.

I think we're a lot more skilled this year than we were last year, without a doubt. I also don't subscribe to the 'we need to be bigger/hit more' nonsense. This team can still compete for a Cup.

This team needs to get dirty in the trenches and around the net instead of the cutesy bullshit that we see over and over on the power play and odd-man breaks.

mens against boys in '16. we were a monster. nobody had an answer. in '17 we were a hair away from Stone punching Guentzel in the face a half dozen times and Bobby Ryan sh*t talking Sid being the defining videos of our playoff exit.

if this team can't waltz around the ice and score the way they did in the regular season, they don't have another toolkit available and will continue to lose to teams who choose to battle.

honestly with average goaltending this team is fine. 3 of the goals against came from beyond the hash mark with and the fourth came at a ridiculous angle. I'm not sure what they rate on the Meow Savability Index® but they all seemed like bad goals to give up for Jarry. The shot totals were about even but I felt like our chances were much better throughout the game

I thought the third goal was a tough ask of Jarry, D (Letang?) needed to play that better. The 4th seemed soft but he also put it in a perfect spot. I think that's almost just a product of modern goaltending style. But the first two were inarguably really really bad

Jarry just needs to rebound. At least two of the goals were real bad, and a third is arguable. Rebound and we forget about it.

Jarry made some real nice saves in the game too to keep us in it. I think NYI had a handful of high danger chances that seemed like sure goals as I was watching live. Maybe it was recency bias because they took over late, but after the game I felt like the Islanders were largely the more dangerous and threatening team. So many more chances from the slot than we had.

We had a lot of really good chances the first 30 or so minutes imo. I'm not worried about Jarry, I think he bounces back. I'm more worried about whatever adjustment the Isles made that resulted in about 4 minutes of zone time in the third and OT

they definitely controlled the flow later in the game (late third period and OT) but I think we were the better team on average throughout

found a stat that we had 11 high danger scoring chances and the Isles only had 6

Did I just see what I wanted to see, or was there a blatant trip against the Isle either late in the third, or in OT?

Right before the GWG, there was what appeared to be interference committed by the goal-scorer that allowed him to get free. Foul leading directly to a scoring change usually gets called. Puck was nowhere close. But it was one of those that they just won't call late in a playoff game (unless you are Letang playing against Washington).

No, you definitely saw that. I think it was late in the 3rd.

I agree with that - Jarry made quite a few kick saves down low from up close. Got lucky on two whiffs.

Jarry had a couple good stops late...but this loss in on him...you can't win games with bad goals against...

I haven't been in the GDT, but I'm shocked this imbecilic article hasn't been mentioned here yet. I won't link to it, because it's not worth giving them the clicks they want, but this is just a collection of horrendously bad takes:
