I could post this tomorrow, since that’s when it actually ended, but happy 25th anniversary to Nedved’s 4OT game winner.

I was at that game. What a ride. Mario's ejection. Juneau's penalty shot. By the 4th OT Leroux was the fastest player in the ice.

I, too, was in attendance. Upper level, just inside the blue line, so I had a beautiful view of the shot.

Yeah my brother was lower level in the corner where 93 buried it. Said the puck came right at him.
I was upper level center ice. I actually miss that barn a lot.

Even you can admit that he's playing outstanding hockey.

I can't believe this "Letang sucks" is still going on.
mikey's Thread of Penguin Randomness
It's not "Letang Sucks." It never was. Even I'm bored with restating it each time so I'm going to skip it this time.

How anyone can watch 58 play and think "that was a dumb play free game for him" doesn't really watch. He's a really good D man. He also makes at least 1 WTF play per game. It isn't he sucks.

My opinion on 58 has never changed. He makes those WTF plays once in awhile because he is on the ice half the game and has the puck on his stick a million times

I thought the Letang sucks thing was a meme here. I never took it seriously.

What year(s)? I was also in F1, row AF1, Row A. Not a seat like it anywhere in PPG Paints.

Ha, cool. I only had half season tix from 05-07. We had seats 14-15 I think - right at the end of the row. It was nice bc my brother is 6’6” and barely fit in the seats, so he stretched his legs into the aisle01 or 02 we moved from floating around E to F1, A and never left. I was just thinking about what our division is going to look like next year when we're back to normal. And man the Eastern conference is a powerhouse

I've heard this quote from lots of people, but it's weird that in the final years (maybe even the last decade) of the Igloo, everybody couldn't wait for the new arena. Now that we have the new arena, there a lot of people that say "I miss the Igloo."Yeah my brother was lower level in the corner where 93 buried it. Said the puck came right at him.

I'm very guilty of saying it. Sure, PPG is clean and shiny, has all of the fancy food, the new gambling area that will eventually open, and probably doesn't have a bad seat in the place. But the Igloo was dirty, had sticky floors and narrow hallways, had 20-30 year old technology as far as the eye could see, and smelled like stale beer (among other things) even on non-hockey days. But it had that old hockey arena feel to it, and I kinda miss that.
Would I trade PPG for the Igloo? Unfortunately no. If the financials to keeping this team competitive were a non-factor, I might have a different answer to this question. But even as much as I would like to keep the old hockey barn, the Igloo had seen better days by 2010 and would have needed so much work by now.

I love and miss the Igloo, but it was literally falling apart. I would have preferred not having that vegas gold bullshit coloring in PPG, but would still not trade it for the Igloo now.

The Igloo had character. It smelled odd, the floors were sticky, hallways narrow, bathrooms had troughs, some seats were completely behind pillars, though some seats it felt like you were close to the action or even on top of it if you're in the balcony. But it was part of the experience. It is also closely associated with watching Lemieux, Jagr, early Sid, etc. It had history that you felt when you walked into the building. I had a similar experience the first time I walked into the Joe.
Of course I appreciate the wider concourses, larger bathrooms, better sight lines, food options of PPG but it still feels soulless even after the two Cup runs. There's also nostalgia clouding some judgement here, obviously. The amenities of PPG would be sorely missed if the Igloo suddenly returned and replaced it.
