I'm not sure how hot of a take this is but if we lose the next three games Sully should not have a job anymore. Would be 3 bad playoff exits in a row.

as much as i've whined about how soft we are, we lost because of Jarry - which doesn't say anything about Sullivan. if we play like we did to close out the last 3 years, do whatever you want with Sully. but if the outcomes are because of some nonsense goaltending or injuries or whatever, then what are ya gonna do.

I thought the third goal was a tough ask of Jarry, D (Letang?) needed to play that better. The 4th seemed soft but he also put it in a perfect spot. I think that's almost just a product of modern goaltending style. But the first two were inarguably really really bad

Agreed. 1 and 2 were inexcusable. The 3rd was one he could have had but it was magnified by the first two plus the game situation. 4th goes in on a lot of technical goalies because of that stupid reverse-vertical-horizontal **** they do. I hate it.

I mean, I don't know how this is gonna go (I had Pens in 5), but Sullivan is an Adams candidate for what he did with this team this year for me...naturally, things can go south in a hurry in a playoff series, but given what Sully was able to do with this group, did he even get to pick these assistants? One of them has never coached in the league before...

If we lose four games like we lost game 1, you can't possibly hang that on Sully...

See, I agree with this. My belief is that we win the series against the Habs last year with better goaltending. How far would they have gone with that roster? Probably not very far, but who knows? They were one save away from a regulation win yesterday - and there is nothing more deflating than allowing multiple soft goals in a playoff game. This has more to do with Jarry's future than it does with Sully's.

As for the rest of the series, it all comes down to Geno's health IMO. Not just because of what he brings to the table, but also because his presence allows the team to roll 4 pretty damn good lines. Take Geno out, that plan crumbles and Carter is your #2 center. If Geno comes back tomorrow and the Pens win, there's no reason they can't win 4 of the next 5.
