I so LOOOOOVE the way Sully kept rolling out Cullen-Kuhnhackl-Sundqvist at the end of regulation.

Not another coach in this universe would have have done that in a tie game in the playoffs.
Showing a ton of faith in this depth guys. Cullen's leadership impact cannot be overstated, but the fact that he has actually supplemented it with speed, scoring, and two-way play makes it even better.

Also, not to jinx it, but Kuznetzov has been absolutely invisible. You'd never guess he was a point/game guy in the regular season.

Got to figure Schultz surpasses Pouliot on the depth chart again. One played a very sound, quiet game, the other had several turnovers and misplays

I thought Murray was shaky in the 1st, even after the soft goal, but was his regular steady self the rest of the way

Is this the first 3 game losing streak of the season for the Caps?

Let's make it 4, please.
They didn't lose back to back games all season. So yeah, 3 in a row is big.
According to the Washington Post they had one three-game losing streak.

Coyotes (3-0 4/2), Isles (4-3 OT 4/5), and Pens (4-3 OT 4/7)

Hmmm, I was sure I heard they hadn't.

I'll stand corrected.

There is absolutely no way Sullivan can start Pouliot over Schultz. You don't need any more justification than what we saw tonight. Pouliot was a lot more noticeable in a bad way.

Damn...what a win!!!!

Went all season without back to back losses...in regulation. So I was close, but no ceegar.

The Pens have looked like the lesser team in the past 4 periods and yet they're up 3-1 in the series. There's a ton of resiliency on this team and that kid they've got in goal has been a godsend. They've gotta get this one on Saturday night and bury these ****. Caps will be gripping their sticks harder and will be feeling the pressure of yet another collapse. Must take advantage of that and pound away like they did in Game 7 in 2009.

Agree totally. Pouliot hung in there, but seemed out of place, where Schultzie was damn solid. Swap Poulit for Letang... like our chances.

Still a little skittish that Sid & Malkie were that quiet considering a defense with Chorney, Weber & Orlov shouldn't really ever hold a team under 3 in regulation like, uh, ever.

Game 1 aside, I think the Pens have been outplayed in every game this series. So that makes the 3-1 series lead that much more entertaining.

Upon further review, I think the Malkin hit's completely legal (by NHL terms). Don't like the headshot, but nothing wrong with it.

1 goal in his last 28/29 NHL games.

Great character win. They buckled down, and survived. They are also stealing the formula of all of the teams that seem to oust them in the playoffs the last few years...i.e. frustrate the opponent with good team D and great goaltending and capitalize on the opponent's mistakes and score. If our PP was even somewhat competent, we'd be walking away with this series. The pressure on the Caps just got ratcheted up to 11...not sure what to expect from them in game 5.

I still need another 5-10 minutes before I can go to bed, assuming my wife didn't lock me out since I woke her and the kid up.
It only takes you 5-10 minutes after these games? It takes me 30-45 minutes.
It was about 15 minutes in total, but I spent the next hour staring at the ceiling waiting to fall asleep.

I disagree. We're winning the 5-on-5 with consistent play (the stats back this up). The Caps surge every now and again, and then just fizzle out.

I thought we had certainly had the better of games 1-2, they outplayed us by a fair margin in game 3 but Murray stole it, and that last night was pretty even.

Holtby was the only reason Game 2 wasn't a blowout.
