I think if the Orpik hit didn't happen he'd get away with a fine. I'm afraid they'll try to even it up and give him more than he deserves

This...unfortunately. In a weird way, I feel that if it was Cole or Lovejoy delivering that hit, they get nothing. Letang being a high profile player gives the NHL the opportunity to show how 'fair' they are.

I compare Letang's hit to Wiilson's knee more than Orpik.

They were about the same in lateness, and in both cases the target came back with no injury.

The only difference is Letang got 2, Wilson got nothing.

Letang *should* just get fined if anything. However I think he has two things working against him.
1) His stick incident in the Ranger series.
2) Pressure on the NHL after the Orpik monstrosity of a hit that they have to "even it up".

If they suspend Letang, the caps obviously have gotten away with a huge benefit this series in regards to what has been handed out.

Right-click inside the video box and set the play speed to slow motion. It still doesn't look like he ever made contact with his head to me. Johansson's head whiplashed back after taking the hit. The final replay even shows that Letang was past his head when he made contact. I don't even think a fine is warranted here.

I think if the Pens play like they did in the late second and third, Washington should have an easy time (if Murray falters). Without the possibility of Letang playing, I'm already chalking up Game 4 as bad news in my mind.

That said with the D1 pairing completely gone it's going to be tight. Going to need a big game from Daley and no mistakes from Schultz and Lovejoy. Tall order on that last bit.

I would love to see the Pens lose Letang and steal that game. I think that would mentally break the Capitals. That all being said, I think the Pens stole that game last night, so they may have already used the lucky breaks up.

What a complete ass performance by everyone not named Murray. Even when everyone sucks, Chris Kunitz manages to stick out as a bag of rotting manure.

I think the Pens can survive a game without Letang, but the team effort needs to be 10000% better than yesterday and Sid sure as hell better show up. If a defenseman gets a penalty, it better be Schultz or Pouliot because I really don't want either of them rotating into the penalty kill at this point. I think you give Pouliot first shot at the top power play to allow Daley to eat more even strength minutes, but if it looks like crap (probably will) then go to Daley. Probably looking at:

Dumoulin-Daley
Pouliot-Lovejoy
Cole-Schultz

Under Bylsma, the Pens would look at a game last night as, "Well, we still won, right? Couldn't have been that bad, then."

Under Sully, the Pens are angry when they fall off the wagon of playing smart. That's why they don't really follow up a bad game with another.

I'd argue that Murray stole game 3. Tough situation to ask him to steal two in a row. I think he is capable, but I don't want to get my hopes up
