Murray has another bad game I'll get on his case. He could have had help on two of those goals. On to game two.

Source of the post didn't get the best performance from Murray.
2 softies. Lose 4-3.
I wouldn't call the last one soft by any means. Oshie is quick, Murray on there in time, it just bounced off then top of his stick and if the ref didn't have x-ray vision were still playing
Was he there on time
He made the initial save, so yeah

All in all, he played as well as Holtby did, which is as much as we need from him

I dont know that that means he was there on time. Seemed to me like Oshie caught him off guard going around the net, and Murray slid way out of position past his left post and scrambled to get back. Because he was so far away from the right post, he wasn't in position and left a gap between his skate and post which resulted in the puck sliding past the line.

And to be fair to Oshie, it was an incredibly patient play, and he fooled him. It happens.

Murray hugged the pipe for too long.
Is that in dispute?

Ehh we didn't play great and still outplayed them for large portions of the game. Way too many coverage breakdowns in the defensive zone. Sid's line was bad outside of Sheary doing some good things before being blatantly interfered with multiple times (thank god they caught that reckless trip by Cole though). Kuhn-Cullen-Rust were on the verge of creating a few odd man breaks but just couldn't quite time it right. Malkin had flashes. Too many of our good chances end up on the stock of Eric Fehr. On the other hand Ovie doesn't miss 3 grade A chances often.

I expect those things to normalize, and the Pens to still take it in 6 or 7.

I thought we outplayed them for most of the night. They had their stretches and certainly had the better of OT, but I came out feeling like we are the better team, but that this is a 6 or 7 game series.

Since we lost and I'm in a negative mood, I'd also say that Malkin played a pretty poor game. Yeah he scored a goal but it seemed he was giving the puck away all night. That last sequence he stayed out too long and they didn't get the puck deep when he went for a change.

From what I remember, Murray gets his right pad on the puck, the puck slowly dribbles parallel to the Goal line and then it hits Murray's goal stick and since Murray is sliding back, the puck is able to sneak in. Murray probably should've held onto his goal stick to avoid the ricochet, but he was there for the initial shot by Oshie

If you're putting this loss on Murray, you should stop watching hockey. We don't see OT if he doesn't stop those 2 Grape Ape chances. Yes, the 2nd Oshie goal was soft but Maata's flatfootedness in front of the net gave Oshie the space necessary.

Maata's screwup that led to the 2-2 goal changed the whole game. The ski patrol was summoned cuz the Pens avalanche was coming. The 3-1 goal was close at hand. And then it wasn't Olli needs extra jalapenos on his nachos Saturday nite.

Can't be Pens In 6 if they don't lose two.

Way to get one out the way early.

Win the next three. Lose in DC and finish them back home.

Maatta's turnover was a killer at that point in the game. Breakaways due to bad bounces, bad changes, etc. will occur over the length of a 7 game series. But they cannot occur because you completely whiff on a slap shot while standing still. Especially when our forte over the last couple of months has been burying team with waves of goals and pressure in rapid succession.

Tom Wilson will be hunting tonight. I don't care about Ovi. Tom Wilson is the one who's prone to do terrible things to other people with no regard to their body.

I don't know how he doesn't get at least 1 game for that.

**** the nhl. **** them.

And God damn it we need fleury
That was a goal.
Meh. I was just mad.

Getting fleury back isnt because Murray isn't good, it's because Fleury might give an emotional boost

I hate to be that guy but the refs let the Caps get away with almost everything tonight. Four blatent penalties and two of them should be reviewed by the NHL for suspension. Nothing will happen because it's the NHL.

I agree. The most obvious and most blatant was the Wilson knee to Sheary. any knee to knee hit is immediately questionable just because of the severity of a knee injury to a player (similar to how NFL players would prefer a concussion to an ACL tear)

Thankfully Sheary was able to skate away without any apparent injury but in this case you have to judge the play, not the result

Murray let in two soft goals, but we blew some opportunities up front. On to game 2.
