I'll admit that I'm no longer taking the time to dig into details of things like Gonchar's role with Pens.

Is he with the team on a daily basis or more concentrating on development with WBS?

AIUI, his role is that of a skill development coach for defensemen and a European scout as needed - I think foreign tournaments only.

So, he probably has a lot of practices with the club on a day to day basis, but he also probably goes to WBS to work with those guys now and again. If you had to ask where he is "stationed" - Pittsburgh.

It's just like in football, you have HC, OC, DC, and all that and they work on game plan stuff...well, there's also a QBs coach, RBs coach, WRs coach, etc. someone has to help the RB become better at his position...that's what Gonchar does for our defense...
