Malkin just needs to start getting his legs moving. He has been standing still far too much out there.
Playing wing will do that to a man. Hopefully as he works back into game shape a bit more he can move back to center full time and get the horses rolling.

That second period was terrible for him. He looked out of place. I didn't check back through the thread yet, but did he play much in the third period?

Nope. Under 4 minutes total. Cullen played about 34 minutes in that same period.

Is now a good time to point out just how many people at LGP were infuriated that we signed Cullen in the offseason?
I was one of them, and I'm happy to admit that. I thought he was taking a spot away from one of the younger guys (Sundqvist). That all being said, I loved how it turned out, and this is reason #2123123123123123434 for me not being an NHL GM.

I was definitely wrong about Cullen as well. I thought we were looking at Craig Adams 2.0. Glad he proved me wrong. Awesome signing.

They don't need to treat him like Adams again and give him a 3 year deal. See where he's at, at the end of the year and give him a bump on a one year deal.

No player at that age really should be given a multi-year deal, unless that player is Jagr.

Some goof named Casey DeSmith was called up from Wheeling and put up solid numbers in 6 starts. In their last game he was injured and Sean Maguire (taken 30 spots after Murray in the same draft) was called into action in the second game he actually dressed for, about a week and half after signing his entry-level deal.

Cullen is 1 of 3 guys to play all 82, iirc.

The fact that Maguire can even play hockey anymore is a testament to his battle level. He suffered a pretty serious back injury and was out of hockey for almost an entire calendar year.

I would bet money on it. I can't imagine a team has had 3 different goalies start in the same series period. If there has, it's got to be a really small number.
In the 1990 Campbell Conference Final, Mike Keenan and the Blackhawks started Ed Belfour, then Greg Millen then Jacques Cloutier...then back to Millen again. They lost in 6.

Also, in the 2004 WCQF the Canucks used Dan Cloutier, Johan Hedberg and Alex Auld vs. Calgary. They lost in 7.

And I didn't know this one, it was done against Pittsburgh in a winning fashion...

1972 Quarter-Final. Chicago used Tony Esposito, Gary Smith and Gerry Desjardins to sweep the Pens. The Blackhawks would use Esposito and Smith only in the Semi-Final to get themselves swept by New York.

Conversely, the Pens swept New York in 1989 when the Rangers used Bob Froese, John Vanbiesbrouck and then rookie Mike Richter in game 4...

That's cool. I figured it would only be several if it did happen.

The majority reason was because people wanted to see the young guys at a real shot and here an NHL roster spot got filled by a 38 year old. That is a valid thing to be annoyed by. I expressed mild displeasure with the Cullen due to age, but age resons only. I was more concerned with Porter taking a spot from one of the young guys. Plotnikov however, I was rather negatively vocal about overall.

Source of the post For those at work, Malkin had only 13:30 TOI this game.
Still found time to fill his dumb **** penalty quota, though.
His dumb penalty and stupid pinch which lead to the shorthanded goal had to be the reasons he didn't see much ice in the third. I'm all for having a coach that holds our star players accountable for their stupidity.
Trotz healthy scratched Ovechkin early in the year and publically stated it was due to his play. He played better after that.

Good. He should've gotten a penalty, probably double minor since I believe Stalberg was bleeding after the shot. It's not suspension worthy based on NHL standards. Stalberg wasn't injured and Letang is not a repeat offender.

I agree, though I was a little worried given how inconsistent the league has been with punishment.

Probably the same number of experts who thought Sheary wasn't worth the uniform he was wearing.

Jarry doesn't look old enough to own a dog, much less have a son.

Yeah, if Bellemare only got one game, Letang at most should have received a one period suspension.
