Maatta took some hits and made some plays at the end, very noticeable in a positive way. Daley also had a great bounce back game after going -4 IMO.

Held the Rags to less than 20 shots in their home building, fantastic.

I am worried about the physical game.. the number are just numbers but there is no denying the Rangers are getting some big licks in and with more frequency than the Pens

Murray returns; Pens play their game.

Seriously did Murray ever look rattled? He was calm and collected even after giving up the goals.
Nope calm cool and collected.

Letang made a smart decision in that sequence. He was rewarded with an EN goal.
Yup. When he stopped dead on the blue line I thought it was the smartest play he's ever made. Then he gets the EN anyway. Great for him. :thumb:
Great point. Earlier in his career (aka last year) he would've pushed forward and tried to force the ENG. He held back, made a smart play to read the pass and knocked it home.
I used to think that Letang was hopelessly, unteachably dumb. But he has played the smartest hockey of his career since Mike Sullivan arrived. Coincidence? I don't think so.

A couple years ago the Pens were more concerned about making big hits and "playing tough" that they forgot to do anything else. That's how Rangers strike me now.

Could it be that the Pens' D played better because they are more confident with Murray in goal?

Cullen pretty much said just this in his Potash interview.

Malkin only 3:05 TOI in the third. Lowest of all skaters and didn't take a shift in the last 7 min.

I don't think he was injured?
Just getting back from an injury. They should monitor his minutes.

Well he made some bone head plays and didn't really earn the confidence of HCMS to be out there with a one goal lead. Can't say I blame him. Malkin simply needs to be better.
Agreed. I was definitely not complaining.

4th line centers usually don't get much time in a tight game in the 3rd period. :pop:

Rangers fans are losing their damn minds over Letang's chop to Stalberg.

Will this get a call from the league office? Hearing tomorrow?

If I read the crawl on NHL Network correctly, the Penguins are now the first team in NHL history to have two different goaltenders win their first career playoff starts in the same series.

Only saw the first period and the final ten minutes. What I saw in that last bit was hugely encouraging.

I know players have to be responsible for their own sticks, and it would've been appropriate to issue a penalty in that instance, but it's pretty clear that was an accidental thing caused by Moore knocking into his arm. There shouldn't be any supplemental discipline.

Much less violent looking, but at the tail end of the play Moore's stick comes down and clocks Letang in the top of the head. Ish happens.

Haha yeah please that's not even on the league's radar and rightfully so. Should have been a minor, wasn't called, life's tough...
