Great moment for Zatkoff when the crowd chants his name during a playoff game like that...man, that's gotta feel good for a guy that has been riding buses for a while...
For sure. He made saves when it mattered; stopped a couple of odd man breaks when it was 1-0. That rebound goal was brutal (he tends to stab and kick at the puck) but otherwise it was a game to remember for him.

I love the role players on this team. Sheary and Kuhnhackel had really good games.
Sheary bumped Kunitz off the top line for a while in the second. Can't say a depth player has ever done that before.

Yup, he fought and battled his way through it...good for him and us...probably not sustainable for a run, but hey, it's a bonus win as far as I'm concerned...

I hope Hank is ok; don't mess with people's eyes.
:thumb:
He'll be fine, but there will certainly be swelling and bruising in and around that eye...possibly an abrasion or laceration on his cornea. If that's the case, we won't see him in game 2, maybe longer than that...

...but yes, I do hope he's okay, but this will definitely impact his role in this series.

I hope Lundqvist comes back for Saturday, especially if we get Fleury back. Lundqvist is the ONLY chance the Rags have at this series and it'll mean so much more if we win with him in net[/quote

I'll take a 4-0 sweep with Raanta in net every time and I won't feel one bit of sorry for it.
well, honestly, I'd support that too if I had a bet on it :?

Sheary is making a believer out of me. Out of all the WBS guys, I took one look at him and said "no way." He made three plays (one was converted) that were top-notch, and was winning puck battles all over the ice.

I saw him as a punchline when he first joined the team, but the kids work ethic is top notch and he has some offensive skill. He really has turned everyone's mind about him around

He reminds me a lot of Tyler Kennedy with less shooting and a little more speed.

Rust reminds me more of TK, but Rust has a bit more awareness on the ice. Sheary can make passes and create separation from defenders in a way that TK could only dream about. As the NHL drifts toward more of a speed league (not to mention the possibility of expansion) Sheary may find himself in somebody's top 6, if not the Penguins top 6 some day soon.

I knew nothing about Sheary when he came up. The first couple of games that I saw of him, I liked what I saw -- speedy, aggressive, not afraid to mix it up. I feel like he got a bad rap because of his size but he has that tenacious quality to him that makes him a terror to the opposition. His hustle on that first goal was a thing of beauty. I'll take him on that 3rd or 4th line any time.

I figured he'd be Chris Conner 2.0. Maybe Brian Gibbons 2.0 if we were lucky. He's awesome

The Rangers are my least favorite professional sports franchise in the world...... but I never want there to be an excuse. If I beat you, I want to know I beat you at your best.

What the **** are you talking about.

So the penguins never won the cup then because Datsyuk was hurt.

Or for that matter the wings never won the cup in 08 because malkin was hurt

i've only been able to watch the first period but looks like the Rangers started with a little more jump than the Pens. Solid play from Zatkoff.

I'll watch the rest of the game later, bit a good win to start the series.

I think playing our 3rd string goalie balances that equation. And I won't bring up malkin.

I would think mediocre teams wouldn't have made the play-offs. They're obviously good enough to be in.

They're mediocre compared to the rest of the play-off group? I don't think their mediocre when other teams didn't make the play-offs.

That was a fun game. On the edge of my seat until they were up by 2, but still fun.

They are pretty unremarkable. That said, I did pick them over the Bolts in my brackets.

Their goal differential (-13) was the worst of all the playoff teams. They won half their games this year. They're leading scorer had 50 points on the year. They made the playoffs because Boston imploded down the stretch. They're quite mediocre.
