- Pick-A-Pen Playoffs Rd1 Gm1: NY Rangers 13-APR-2016 8:00pm EDT
Official Rules:
Pick a player and score points based on his points scored in that game. Accrue more points than anyone else over the course of the playoffs and you win. Players' points are weighted, so check the table and choose wisely. Point modifiers will be updated at least every round.
- Picks must be submitted by puck drop. Actual faceoff times are almost always eight minutes after scheduled game times. So a 7:00 game will usually have a 7:08 faceoff. The official NHL score sheet will list the game start time. A pick made at the same time as puck drop will count.
- Only players' last names will be counted (no nicknames)
- No conditional picks- Part of playing the game is knowing who is playing the game. If you want to change your pick, you can edit your original post up until puck drop. Any edits after faceoff will disqualify you for that game.
- Game Winning Goals - A game winning goal, whether scored during regulation or overtime, will earn one additional point (i.e. If Letang has a multiplier of 2 and scores the game winner, it's worth 3 points).
Playoff PAP is two competitions run concurrently. There is the standard points challenge, the winner of which takes the Conn Smythe Trophy for having the greatest post-season points production and thus becomes the Most Valuable Player. Additionally a playoff bracket will run where sixteen of the greatest PAPers of 2015-2016 will compete head to head on a per-game basis in a four round Stanley Cup tournament.
Trash talk is encouraged.
- You make one PAP selection per Penguins game. It will count towards the points contest and the bracket portion, if applicable.
- You will also make a one time prediction of the Pens Shots/60min over the course of the playoffs. This will serve as a tie-break for individual games in the bracket portion. You may only make this prediction once and it will be to the tenth of a point. Failure to make a prediction will result in a 0 recorded for your tie-break until you make a qualifying Shots/60 prediction.
- Round 1 will be a Best of Five series. Quarter/Semi/Final round length will be dictated by the duration of real world round length.
- If the Pens season completes before the bracket terminates, the remaining games will 'chalk out' with the player with the highest points total winning all future pairings.
- Your prize is glory, no tangible award is expressly offered or implied.
