MAF 4th Goalie in NHL History with 7 35+ win seasons

I've had the "Fleury HOF" discussion on here before, with mikey (who knows a hell of a lot more about goaltenders than I do) and a few others...it was also mentioned on the Madden show by Dejan and Josh Yohe I think.

Bottom line, Fleury will have the stats...at least the wins, if he stays healthy and plays until his late 30's. It would help if he'd win another Cup, and the argument can certainly be made that almost all the coveted accolades have eluded him. He's kind of like that starting pitcher in MLB who just barely misses out on the Cy Young every season but manages to win a bunch of games.

Longevity is the key for goaltenders, and if MAF finishes third (or even second) all time in wins, he's gotta be in the HOF, and if the Flower maintains this pace, he will pass Roy for second place on the all time wins list in just 5 seasons. Let that one sink in. The guy has had a VERY underrated career.

He keeps this up, he might get to top five goalie (wins) of all time. Maybe even top 3.

Too bad Murray is about to take his job.

Yup--with the core locked up and a bumper crop of young, talented forwards all of a sudden, you'd like to think the Pens are going to be competitive for at least the next 5-7 years. That Murray decision though...so tough. You'd love MAF to be a Penguin his entire career but I don't envy the decision-makers when that day arrives.

And then there's Tristan Jarry, who's also having a pretty good first season in WBS.

He needs about 3 or 4 more seasons of great goaltending to be a HOF, I think... but man. The stability we've had over the years (except for his blunder playoff years that I'm not convinced were 100% on him) has been incredible.

Can we please move all the prior discussion into this thread...
And then move this thread into the regular season discussion thread so I can respond... :pop:

Lol, we went from lumping everything into one thread, to multiple threads on a single subject.

The only time I discussed trading him was when his contract was coming up and I feared what they would give him. Other than that I was critical of his play. Very critical, but pretty much just commented on his rebound control and play behind the net. People just can't handle that I was "mean" to such a cutie pie.... or whatever.

"But Jim, how can you not like him? Look at that smile. So dreamy!"
"He kicked 10 rebounds out between the circles today"
"But he's do cute! Superstar! You're just a hater!"

Talk about a straw man construction worthy of the Colossus of Rhodes.

That's about he quality of comeback I was used to back then. Good to see things don't change on some fronts.

Eh, I felt calling out the obvious attempt to frame a non existent agruement was a quality response. Though no need to rehash emotional posts made back then. Just glad the penguins management know hockey much better than many people who posted back then.
