That was my thought as well but since all of his highlights seem to be on the power play it's tough to comment. Mediocre defensive play but low penalty minutes is kind of okay though. Gonchar used to rack up the hooking penalties like nobody's business. He's probably not good defensively and probably soft. I'm guessing this is just a softer Adam Clendening with slightly better lateral skating, worse straight line skating...but I don't want to continue to say things without watching him play in an actual game...Averaged about 1.5 shots per game, so he's definitely more of a puck distributor than shooter, though he looks to have a decent shot. No idea what to make of 24 penalty minutes in 149 career games.

@dodintSource of the post Parallel discussions do not boost SEO, having a single thread with the title as the subject does far better than people sporadically talking about it across various threads.
Which is why, parallel discussions shouldn't be happening in the first place if new threads are created and compartmentalized.
You don't think having keywords show up twice as much and on different places on a domain boosts SEO? Interesting.
- The original discussion was only simple text, amassed in a bunch of other items being discussed, there's no clear relevance established as opposed to a single thread, with an H1 title being identified, and the conversation solely being discussed instead of a wide range of other things. We have not trained a user to look in one giant thread, unless they've been here. New users do not understand how this board works, so one giant thread can lead to the assumption that there's nothing going on, which creates a poor user experience overall.
A single topic for a single news worthy element is more user friendly(which is my focus), and more SEO relevant than a breadth of topics discussed in one place (I am an SEO analyst, afterall).
Showing up late, creating a thread about what people have already begun talking about, and not taking the extra two minutes to move the discussion over to the new thread is what creates a parallel discussion. Moving the discussion would make for the highest quality thread which is what we all ultimately want. I've modded phpBB, it's not some Herculean task.
- Cool, this was more of a let's change the way we're doing things, I personally can not move posts to other threads. There's no need to be a dodint about it.
I'm off to Chicago in a few minutes, so I'll simply restate that I'm not against single topic threads at all. I'm against restarting a discussion that is already underway (for the sake of SEO/user experience/whatever) without moving the original discussion over if you have that ability. You claim that your creation of a new thread is for the betterment of the community as a whole, but the lack of follow through just shows you do not actually value the discussion but rather just appearances. You'll note that the request to move the posts and create a single discussion didn't even originate from me, so I'm not just dodinting to dodint, it's a user requested action.
Thanks for helping kill the 45 minutes before this meeting. Have a good one.
Why, why is it this much of a struggle to just do the simple thing and create threads going forward....that's all I want, and the only way to do that is start setting an example. You're making the smallest thing the most awful thing to discuss right now.
This was a call-out thread, to move the discussion to a new thread. Nothing more. Going forward, let's create new threads for topically relevant items so someone new can find them. I don't even care about search engines here, I just want the board to be active - and I feel that the Pens Related side is suffering.

The more chances at a guy like this we take as an organization the better probability we have of landing a good dman for the team. That was my thought as well but since all of his highlights seem to be on the power play it's tough to comment. For some reason I thought he'd be like 21-22. He's 24, so that's a little on the older side to be starting his professional career, but still, let's see what he can do at the next level.

Add dodint's name to the Star Wars thread.

Didn't create a new thread because, at the time, it was unconfirmed. Would've created a new thread when others confirmed it; unfortunately, I'm on the west coast.
Glad for these sort of signings. I want Pittsburgh to be a place that prospects and such want to go because they know that WBS is a good training ground & they'll get a legitimate shot in the NHL if they play well, no matter their draft position. There'll be enough diamonds in the rough to make it worthwhile. It's too bad the Pens signed Plotnikov instead of Panarin, but that is the type of thing I'm thinking about.
Prow could become the next Clendening, sure. But it's possible he just figured it out late, and this could be a great signing. Never know.

I mean I totally understand a discussion was already happening, I'm not super-human, people are going to post things before I get to them.
This is why I made the thread, and what we'd like to see going forward. That's it.

But highly unlikely.

No worries at all and no reason to justify your reasons lol.Didn't create a new thread because, at the time, it was unconfirmed. Would've created a new thread when others confirmed it; unfortunately, I'm on the west coast.

Jonathan Bombulie:
There are a few question marks. He didn’t really start putting up big numbers until his senior year and 20 of his 38 points this season came on the power play. He doesn’t shoot the puck a ton (56 shots this year). But all that said, this is precisely the kind of signing a team that has traded away draft picks in recent seasons needs to make.

Our power play stinks. He's got points predominantly from there. When can he play?

Lol... legally? I think he could play tonight. When Casey Bailey got picked up by the Maple Leafs he was plugged into the line-up almost immediately.

He'd just be Justin Schultz-lite

He isn't signed to Pittsburgh yet, technically. He signed an ATO with WBS, he is their property. Not ours. His ELC kicks in July 1, 2016. He can play for us after that.

I feel that when we look back on this signing at any point in the future, dodint will have been correct and this will have not deserved its own thread.

I would have never done that (search) and think it is silly to have rules on where you can post items. How would newer users be able to know such silly rules? But to my original snark, I don't think for a second Morkle searched "Prow", saw that we already talked about it, and then created a new thread.
Hey, everybody that already discussed this topic, please repeat everything verbatim for the sake of people that aren't even here yet.
Penguins Sign College UFA D - Ethan Prow
It's a silly rule to ask when something notable happens, to make a new thread? Really?
Penguins Sign College UFA D - Ethan Prow
Well i think pitts was agreeing that there should be a new thread, and i think you are being liberal with your use of notable.
