Who was the PxP guy? It sounded like he was the Isles announcer. The Pens "got away" with a call, it was very borderline. And he goes "here go the refs again." Pretty homer ish line even if the game was on MSG let alone NBCSN nationally

The addition of Malkin appeared to help more in the "Carter can now play on the 3rd line" way than the "Malkin is a world class talent" way. And that's totally fine. I don't think it will stay this way of Malkin can get healthier.

i just watched this again. you're right of course. but the worse thing is that from just a professional performance point of view, when a circus game goes 5-4 and everything's going nuts, you, the broadcaster, allow the viewer at home go along for the ride and wait a tick for the "was that a high stick?" moment.

you don't raise your hand at the desk and go, "ooh! ooh! I know the answer. Pick meeeee!!!!" and IMMEDIEATELY start guessing if everyone's fun is about to be negated. it's just a really lame injection of flaccid drama just to Pierre can give himself points for realizing Tanev's stick wasn't on the ice, thinking that's some sort of insight.

This is broadcasting 101 from pre-internet era. The model has to be updated at some point to account for audiences being able to seek out their own information and not being captive to nitwits.

these guys get so locked in to a single persona, that it just gets smaller and weirder as the years go by. it's like steigy's percentage of cringey attempts at comedy. every year it would take up 5% more real estate until it was all we were left with. i think we're seeing the singularity now with Pierre where he only exists in pre-canned talking points.

The thing with Zucker and Martin was so weird. Firstly, that Zucker shouldn't trash talk Martin because of the size mismatch and secondly, that it's ok to insult him behind his back, but you shouldn't do it to his face.
