Per Yohe, Letang said there’s a lot of tape out there on Sid taking the faceoff on the PP and they want to change some things up with some different looks and that’s why Malkin was in the dot

hmm not against that, my PP beef (which was probably just confirmation bias every time I saw it) was losing the opening faceoff in the zone and not getting setup back in the zone until 35 secs into the PP. Maybe that was an actual issue

Interesting - I was concerned Sid was having hand or wrist issues or something. The explanation about the game tape is cool.

The one that really stood out to me was one where geno got waved and Jake stepped in rather than sid.

And then Jake took another 2 or 3 draws at 5 on 5.

Sullivan also said that he lets the guys decide on the ice. I found that interesting.
This is actually pretty normal. I played center my whole life and would tap guys in to take certain draws but usually it was to have a right take it on his strong side

Blurb from yohes article: In a different kind of twist, Malkin took the draws on the power play while Crosby began on the point.

I don’t expect this alignment to be a regular thing. Letang said after the game that the Penguins are dabbling with this look because there is an excessive amount of video for teams to study that showcases Crosby working in his customary spot close to the goal crease.

But he has like 18 years of tape. They don't think it's the tape that's going to cause Crosby to lose faceoffs more?

You could also take the face off AND play the point...

It's all good. 71 dominated on those draws

Another interesting takeaway - I didn't notice Letang out there on the PK. Just looked and saw he only played 0:38. Very smart way to manage his minutes

Well, hopefully they get a handle on stopping the PP out there. They didn't look necessarily great. (game 1, I know, I know)
