Injury discussion and whatnot

So what's up with Erhoff? Was he concussed again yesterday?

It looked like shoulder to me, but who knows. Haven't heard anything yet.

Both he and Hornqvist skated yesterday. I can't imagine that they would be out much longer. Maybe keep them out the Carolina game and bring them back this weekend.

I just read that he and Horny might return this weekend.
Injured forwards Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist were on the ice for the Pens Wednesday afternoon practice at CONSOL Energy Center.

They will not join the team on their trip to Carolina this afternoon and will be out Thursday when Pittsburgh plays the Hurricanes, but head coach Mike Johnston is hopeful that they could return as early as this weekend’s home back-to-back games against Arizona Saturday and San Jose Sunday.

we probably don't need them against the Yotes but it would be nice to have them against SJ

HCMJ said he might have an update on Erhoff tomorrow. He insinuated it was serious.

Erhoff was exactly what we expected though.

Constantly injured. Took him a while to get going. I hope he stays healthy for the playoffs, we're going to need D with the ghost of Scuderi back in full-swing.

I'm fairly certain it was a concussion for Erhoff, judging by how he stayed down and very still then looked wobbly coming off the ice. I would think he'd have gotten up a bit quicker, or at least shown some more lower body movement if it was his shoulder...looked like he was out cold for a few seconds. It very well could be a combination of shoulder and concussion though.

Separated shoulder was my first guess, but wouldn't rule concussion out. He's fragile.

As sad as it is. I don't think Erhoff will never be the same.

Yea. After that hit last night, I decided I don't want to see them attempt resigning him after the season.

I'd rather take a run at Martin.

Any idea if they're just going to roll with 11 forwards and six D tomorrow? I guess no callups because of the up against the salary cap.

Agreed. I really like the Hoff, just a sequence of freak things

Did they send Ebbett down for cap reasons? If so, if Hoff's injury is major then that should free some cap back up no?

I think they have to LTIR him first before they get any kind of cap relief.

News'll come tomorrow:

Erhoff is probably done for awhile. It took forever to come back and he still wasn't able to be consistently in the lineup. This latest situation can't be any better.

the hit he took in the corner looked awful. His head hit the boards really hard.

if I had to guess it really looked like another concussion, but then again I'm not a doctor...I don't think...

I agree. I was thinking more of the off season, how much of hit in $$$ potential. He really hasn't played enough to showcase himself.

I liked him as a player when he was in the lineup. But, this season has been an absolute grind and I am not sure how he projects in the future anymore. Either as a Penguin or anywhere else in the league, which is very unfortunate.

I don't think they really used him right, either. His main draw was that rocket shot on the Power Play, but he barely got a chance on the #1 unit.

He should sit out the rest of the year because another game in a Pen's uniform may literally kill him.

Yep. That was talked about constantly, how he could help on the power play. But misuse killed that.
