Hmmm...Wilson is a fairly indistinguishable drone, so that doesn't bother me.

So basically every Pen except Rust is over used?
Proof that "advanced stats" are "advanced trash"?
Proof that "advanced stats" are "advanced trash"?

I think this is what happens when people with no background in statistics analyze data. For something like to have any meaning, the over and underused values for each player would all have to sum up to zero. That's clearly not the case - it's garbage data.

Perhaps the biggest problem with the diagram is ignoring statistical uncertainty. P/60 for a little-used player will have more statistical noise than for a player who logs lots of ice time. On the other hand, I have found that error bars on graphs seem to be difficult for most people to properly interpret. The graph is not meaningless, but lacks uncertainty information that would make it more useful, and if that information were added, it would only be a useful graph to the small proportion of people who were not confused by error bars.I think this is what happens when people with no background in statistics analyze data. It also doesn't take into account strength of opposition. Some players are usually matched against the opponents' best defensive players.
It isn't garbage data, although I think the quadrants might be drawn with the wrong origin and are less cut-and-dried than the graph implies. But it's a crude statistical tool with limited use in evaluating players.

Advanced stats and data have their place, but this is poorly done as stated above.Perhaps the biggest problem with the diagram is ignoring statistical uncertainty. It's sad that people see this chart and think all advanced stats are "advanced trash" because of one poorly done graph.
I guess this must mean that because I had a bad slice of pizza in Tampa one time, that all pizza must be bad.

Is the thought that this person is basing it off of just that one chart...? That seems to be just as disingenuous as your take on the original take...

Fine, it is one in a long line of advanced stats charts, graphs and ramblings that prove that advanced stats are basically trash in the grand scheme of things. Is that better? People can put the Corsi up their Corsi until the Corsi's come home.Kind of what it seemed to imply by stating proof. Is the thought that this person is basing it off of just that one chart...? Clear now?

In other news, Rowney to IR. I don’t recall ever hearing what happened to him exactly.

Hopefully DeSmith does well, despite being at the tail end of his prime.

It's always easy to spot who the millennial bandwagoners are. "not something I want associated with the Pens", "Didn't think the Penguins organization would stoop that low", "I cannot support the Penguins on this", etc.All I'm reading about Desmith on reddit is about his domestic abuse issues from 3-4 years ago.
