That was a hideous shift from Lovejoy...yikes
Worst dman on that team. Would rather have despres.
Despres has barely played all year, and you can bet he'd be on IR all year with us, because that's the way we roll. On a gurney.

Leave healthy. Scratch Sid and Letang dress Bruno Samartino and Haystacks Calhoun for Philly.
Part of me wants to see the Pens dress everyone just to try and beat Philly to keep them out of the playoffs.
I just want a healthy (relatively speaking) team but yeah knocking them out in Philly would be special.

Man, would have loved to have seen the Flyers lose in regulation, but that is a brutal loss even in OT for them.

Changed my mind. If Philly can lose to the Leafs, they can lose to the Hack Squad Pens. Sit everyone.

Well, that was fun. I almost forgive them for taking a nap the first ~12 minutes of the third just because it allowed that OT.

Is anybody concerned just a little about blowing leads vs Caps or is it me?

lol, it was 2 games, and the first one the Pens were up 2-0 and lost 3-2, and in this one they were up 3-0, blew the lead, and won in OT. The Capitals are, record-wise, the best team in hockey, and we split the season series. What could you possibly be concerned about?

And that first one was the snow day makeup so we were on the 2nd of a back-to-back and I think we lost our legs a little bit in the 2nd half of the game. I said that nite and I'll continue to say it -- the Pens are equal to or better than the Caps and they've shown it in 2 1/2 of the 4 games this season.

The Caps have always played an aggressive PK and the Pens had no idea how to handle it, especially during that 5:00 PP. It was so annoying to watch them try to figure it out only to watch the puck go to the other end of the ice. But, they got another 2 points and locked up home ice for the first round, whatever good that's gonna do them. Better news is that the bottom 6 and the PK continue to amaze.

As for Saturday's game -- I say that you go with the normal and kill the beast. In 2010, the Bears had a chance in Week 17 to eliminate the Packers. They decided to rest everybody and lost the game 10-7 and thus, the Pack snuck into the playoffs. 3 weeks later, it was Packers-Bears in the NFC Championship game and that didn't end so well for the Bears...and the Steelers as I remember. So, moral of the story -- if you have the chance to eliminate your rivals, DO IT. Cuz you could see them again along the way and you'll regret you didn't when you had the chance.

Just 8 shifts, 5 minutes of ice time for Tom Wilson - doghouse after that hit?

From a Washington Post reporter:
Asked Trotz about sitting Wilson down and if that was enough of a message. "What do you want me to do, put him in jail?"

On the Sheary goal, did anyone notice Sestito actually outworking and outstripping Ovechkin of the puck? Good grief. Ovechkin then raised his hand to call for a change, so he might have had a long shift, but still...outworked by a slug facepuncher...
