I don't know what to say. They played their hearts out for most of the game, but to no avail. Get well soon Letang.

When your defense is Martin (a good complementary #2, but not a top 2 in his own right, IMO), Cole (could be a good top 4, but needs some work still), Scuderi (at decent 6th, but needs cover or a favorable system), Lovejoy (good complementary bottom 4, but not 2nd-pair in his own right), & Chorney (AHLer for a reason), and three of your top 4 (Letang, Maatta/Pouliot, Ehrhoff) are injured with no foreseeable relief... I dunno.

At the beginning of the year, it seemed effortless. They could score at will, & knew they would win. Now, they can try their hardest & shoot 100 times, and they're hoping it goes in. They're trying & forcing. It's such a big difference. I'm guessing it is a confidence thing, but I don't know. The difference is definitely there, though.

The power play again gave up a SHG at a very inopportune time, completely swinging momentum. The injuries have been the biggest detriment to this team; the power play is a very, very close 2nd.

4 D + Chorney (who's actually perfectly serviceable) = trouble

I just hope that they are not completely gassed by the end of the first tonight.

Beyond that....
I don't know what to say

Choreny is, but Lovejoy and Scuderi are not. I would rather see Harrington and Dumbledoor than those two.

I think it's over. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised but I think Buffalo plays their hearts out tonight knowing they have last place locked up.

Chorney might have been our best defenseman last night. Cole was solid as well, but outside of that Scuderi was awful as usual, Lovejoy has had two horrible games in a row and was responsible for the Islanders second goal, and Martin just flat out sucked. The short handed goal was his fault and the Isles 2 on 1 with Crosby back was also a result of his poor play.

Likely because Martin has been carrying the defense on his back for the past 3 weeks or whatever since Letang went out.

He's probably gassed.

I don't care what he's been doing for the past three weeks. As the only defenseman on the power play and as the point man on the far side away from the puck, its his responsibility to peel back. There's no excuse for Cizikas getting behind him. It's a complete miscue on a defensive responsibility you learn when you're 8.

I can't believe Scuderi scored and we didn't win...

There was a LOT to like that game. Sid looked like a top superstar and dominated. No one could get him off the puck and he was flying around the ice everywhere. He's looked real good the past month or so, but his puck control and cycling was unreal in this game.

Mental lapses (shorthanded goal) and defense lost this game i feel. It was a good hard fought game, but we just didn't come out on top. This team is beat up and 3 of the 4 top defenders are hurt. It's an excuse, but it's also the truth. Add a healthy Letang, Maata, and Erhoff to that game and things would have to have been better.

Also, when Scuderi scored at the end of the 2nd I was so giddy. Out of all the guys to tie the game up, it was Scuds. Too bad it didn't spark us to the win.

I only stayed up for the first 2 periods. Gutted to see they lost when I got up this morning.

Thought the Pens played well but always looked like they would struggle to score.

Nervous about tonight. :scared:

I also passed out in the third period because I didn't start the game until like 1 or so. I really thought maybe they'd squeeze out a win for once. Also nervous about tonight

The game isn't on live over here but is being shown early tomorrow. I'm going to try and avoid the score and watch it at breakfast.

The Penguins finally cracked under all those injuries.
