Flames contact Penguins about Fleury
Given what we've seen GMJR do since becoming GM, I have no doubt in my mind that he'll make the appropriate move with regards to Fleury. His value may decline if we hold onto him an extra year, but that is absolutely the price we should be willing to pay in order to appropriately groom Murray into ...

??? Yeah, it's weird, there are no mentions on NHL.com. I'm confused. This is to inform you that shenanigans have been called.
Knowing what I - thought - I knew about the Okposo/Isles situation, I'd be very surprised if that was the outcome...

Rask or Subban form the Bruins.
Although Rask may be forced to be protected by a no trade clause (not sure if he has one).

If the experience rule plays out as is, wouldn't Sprong have to be protected if he plays up in Pittsburgh next year? That would give him 2 years based on the definition of the CBA. Yes. That doesn't mean he get protected or even chosen. There will be so many really solid players available and a tea...

This is what I've been saying all along as well. Nearly every team in the league will have some good to great goalies available. The Pens are not the only team that has goalies. You don't know how it's gonna shake out...and the world doesn't revolve around us, other teams have two goalies too...

Gotta know the rules on expansion. And they need to be out a year in advance. We might have to stuff Murray in the minors for the season in order to protect him long-term...what a scoop that will be: Stanley Cup Winning Goalie Plays 0 NHL Games the Following Season. What a long headline... From the...

Pretty much the entire team is back next year minus Cullen and Lovejoy currently.Yep, signed through next season.Source of the post Thinking about the speed-heavy system, I'm excited to see Daley for a full year (is he staying)?

What if both goalies have NMC clauses? I'd like to know the rules more. Couldn't you theoretically ask Murray if he likes the Pens enough to sign him to a 1-2 year deal with a NMC or NTC? That's a good one because I've read a team can only protect one goalie. I'd think the league might frown upon s...

Question then becomes - do you move MAF to protect Murray, or what happens if you move MAF, and both Murray and Jarry are available. As I stated in another response above, you expose the backup you just signed to replace MAF. Protect Murray, no one is going to take Jarry - there will be too many be...

Can one of the expansion draft gurus get in here? @mikey is Murray exempt from the expansion draft? The rules are not written in stone yet, but from what i've read: By the time the expansion draft rolls around, Murray will no longer be exempt. It's something like 2 years professional service and th...

Was just reading this story... I know that is says it makes sense for all involved, but is there any real justification to dealing Fleury? As far as I understand it, we're not going to lose either one in the expansion draft? Doesn't make any sense to me to trade him right now. They can only protect...

Lol, no. I was referring to those who want to lump new news into a season long, generically-named thread that no one but the well-informed Illuminati would know to look into! It's a silly rule to ask when something notable happens, to make a new thread? Really?

But to my original snark, I don't think for a second Morkle searched "Prow", saw that we already talked about it, and then created a new thread. Hey, everybody that already discussed this topic, please repeat everything verbatim for the sake of people that aren't even here yet. I would have never d...

Possible expansion draft -- Big choice at the goalie position?
Why? He would most likely still be at the top of his game, maybe even better.I would think that in 2 years we would consider moving on from Fleury any way,

Possible expansion draft -- Big choice at the goalie position?
To get a better portrayal, we need to simulate who else would be available in this thing. It's like when a player gets put on waivers and it's like "oh no! He'll definitely be claimed!" until you realize that each roster probably has 20 similar or better players on their roster already. What if Win...

So, he should tip forward instead of backward then? One thing I would like to mention to Kessel if I ever saw him in person would be that on almost all of those layup chances he goofs, he's moving away from the net. If he got his momentum moving towards the net, he buries most of them.

Crosby and Scoring Race
As of tonight, Crosby is tied for 5th in points, 7th in goals, is 6 points from 2nd place in scoring and cut Kane's lead down to 23 (was over 30 last week), is only 8 goals away from the goal scoring lead, is only 8 points away from the assists lead. I admit, I was questioning him back in November a...
