Job and General Employment Thread

I recently applied for a potential dream job and I listed my former supervisor, a recently retired co-worker, and one current colleague (sworn to secrecy) as references. My current supervisor would be unable to provide a decent reference because I see her 2-3 times a semester. Very hands off. I don'...

I loved this season, and have loved all 4. Ditto on the spoiler. I was looking forward to him being a foil for Bosch Yep. Didn't see that coming. Didn't see his ex-wife dying either, but I think that happened in the books. I've read one Bosch book, and each season usually covers 2-3 book villains/a...

SSD drives do not have moving parts and are much faster than regular mechanical hard drives. You'll be able to boot to desktop in ten seconds. Similar storage as what you have in your phone, tablet, or thumb drive. It uses a lot less power because it doesn't have moving parts.

I wonder if it's worthwhile to replace that HDD with a SSD. I see it has a M2 SSD, but if you get one large(r) SSD that might be better for battery life.

Welp, Marte was hit in the hand with a 95 mph fastball and left the game. Frazier was called up this morning, Sadler optioned. So now Frazier's batting second behind Jordan Luplow.

Fun while it lasted.

Water fountain at work no longer chills the water. :( Yes, this absolutely grinds my gears. They installed a water bottle filler in our building that issues lukewarm (at best) water. I take a Yeti rambler full of ice water from home, which lasts the entire day, but if I add water from that fountain...

Man, I had forgotten that Josh Harrison swings at bad pitches all the time. His second or third at bat last night he struck out and not a single ball pitched to him was a strike.

I loved the effort on the popup behind the plate. I don't think I've seen another pitcher run 8-10 feet behind home plate trying to make a catch. Diaz called him off, and probably called him nuts as well.

I'm not a big DC guy, but Lego Batman 3 was a lot of fun too. Great way to learn about DC characters...as every single one of them is in the game somewhere. Stephen Amell recorded the Green Arrow's voice, too, which was a nice touch.

Baseball is nuts.

Not a single facet of the Pirates' collective game was working a few weeks ago: defense, offense, starting pitching, relief pitching, even coaching. Now it's all clicking at the same time. The mind boggles.
