"Atheism is a religion like abstinence is a sex position."
Much like most bumper sticker philosophies it sounds good, but soon fails under critical examination. :)
Do critically examine.

I've received many a PM on various boards trying to convert me. Seems they prefer anonymity to front door tactics, usually with slight insults. The in-person folks, few as they are, have always been smug in their approaches (usually occurs when a conversation drifts to what I'm doing & if I actuall...

I'm hesitant to go too far. I suppose I am what some have termed a "militant atheist," although I don't appreciate the implication. I don't bomb anyone. I don't kill abortion doctors. I don't storm universities in Kenya. Moreover, I have never had an atheist come to my front door trying to convert m...

Eh, redwill, there are reasons Scripturally to believe it. Not sure if you're gonna find any non-Scriptural reasons, though, if that's what you're after. So what separates your belief from the Greeks' belief, or from Hinduism, or from Islam, or from Tolkien? Is it simply that you believe this and n...

Is there any reason to believe this apart from the fact that some people believe it? Well, this is one of those points of orthodoxy that to deny it is to deny the Christian faith, so while I would never believe this to be the case because "some people believe it", it is one of things that is consis...

The "pre-incarnate Jesus"? Jesus before he became flesh in the 1st Century BC/AD. In other words since Jesus is eternal in his being as the Second Person of the Trinity, yet did not have a body until he was born of the virgin Mary in Christian theology it is common to refer to Jesus in that way, as...

We lost power today for about four hours. The night before last we had a raging thunderstorm roll through with hail and 70 mph winds and did not lose power. Today was sunny with clear blue skies and we lost power for whatever reason. Normally that's not a problem, since we have a propane-powered gen...

I think ethics do not really apply in sports. Take a typical major sports game. A player dives, draws an undeserved penalty, or outright does something illegal and gets away with it. What do the commentators say? Something like, "He helped his team there." Or, more cynically, "Good play there to get...

My brother used to eat peanut butter and mayo (Miracle Whip) sandwiches.

Generally speaking, I'll try anything. But I have not yet had the stomach to try that.

I have seen a lot of my "liberal" (trying to reclaim that word back to its rightful place in a classical sense, hence the quotation marks) posting this as if it is some big refutation. Good for them, the more the merrier.

I respect clean shavers more than beard growers, and that's coming from a beard grower. Its easy to not give a poop and let it grow. It take some commitment to keep at keeping at it. Do you respect people who shave their pubic hair into swastikas and such more than those who don't? I mean, one can ...

Yeah, same here, PFIDC. We use it, but it doesn't do much. Not complaining, though. Every little bit and all that.
