You almost need an entire kitchen for those breast pump parts. Wash, boil, dry, pump and repeat. I guess that leads to a point for the single basins - easy for baby baths.

The issue with single basins is that you have to use the same basin for washing and rinsing. Eventually, the soap ratio dwindles to the point where you have to apply more soap. Also, there are times I use the basin to thaw frozen meats when I don't have time to thaw overnight. That takes up the enti...

Gotcha. We actually have a very similar situation, except we already have a 26" single, and a small dishwasher. It seems like we run the darn thing every day. Our kitchen is plenty big, but it seems the designers didn't utilize the space very well. If I didn't already have a ton of projects lined up...

Replace the double basin with a single... I'm surprised you are replacing a double basin with a single. I don't get the appeal of a single basin. The house we just bought has a single basin, but we can't justify a double since our space is too small. Perhaps I'm missing the appeal of the single. Ca...

I don't miss those days. Someday, somebody smarter than me will come up with a way to circumvent a lot of the issues that come with buying/selling a house. I really think much can be done regarding the buyer/seller relationship. Each hire their own spokesperson when in reality I think most of the ne...

Just started David Maraniss' Clemente: The Passion and Grace of Baseball's Last Hero yesterday. Excellent book, and Maraniss is a gifted storyteller. I read this morning that the movie rights have been sold to Legendary Pictures, whose chairman has a stake in the Steelers: http://www.post-gazette.c...

Went to look at a house in Richland Twp. Almost tripped over a 5+ foot black rat snake in the driveway. We took our 1-1/2 year old to Kennywood on Saturday for his first amusement park adventure. He seemed a bit nervous on the Kangaroo, but didn't cry. Surprisingly, he lost it on the Turtle. Although to his credit, that thing does produce some weightlessness and a good amount of centripetal force to t...

Spent the good part of yesterday afternoon clearing out the garden at our just-purchased house. There must have been 100 volunteer tomatoes growing! I think the previous owners just threw away their unused tomatoes and hoped for the best. Well, after 5 hours of backbreaking work, I transplanted/thin...

Eh I disagree, but that's fine. I think they made the most of the situation. Remember, the Appel draft was the first year of the new drafting rules. So they couldn't pull a Bell pick again, lest they give up 2 first round picks and a boatload of cash. Speaking of draft, I really haven't followed wha...

I would take Meadows over Appel right now...Appel's bad decision saved the Pirates from themselves, but they never should have drafted him in the first place. Is this said in hindsight, or did you really think the Pirates should have passed on Appel because he wouldn't turn out to be a major league...

Just read a podcast on Grantland on the new show. Apparently CBS was all ready to take on the show but at the last second pulled the plug. TV Land swooped in and took it from there.
The show may flop, but he's still my favorite comedian.

You're trying to use your TV as an audio switcher, and that's a bad idea for a number of reasons. Optical cables (in practice) don't have enough bandwidth to carry the two main bluray audio codecs (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA). So you definitely want to send an HDMI cable from your bluray source to you...

General question regarding audio: I have a home theater system with a blu-ray that is connected via HDMI to a Smart TV for video and via optical cable to a receiver for audio. However, the audio is really lacking through the optical cable. The music and sound effects are somewhat muffled, even thoug...
