Hot or Not: Amy Schumer edition
haha is that the chick from Roxette? I should have known, Tomas... @Tomas?? I did not think there was any doubt after you replied. It's her. She had a concert in Prague yesterday (apparently, not a great one) as the part of the duo's 30th anniversary tour. I haven't followed them much (except aroun...

Picture at the top looks like bowie when he is 90. To this day I still haven't heard anything this Amy schemer has done. I feel like I'm completely out of touch with the world at times. I just started watching her show this year, and this episode is, in my opinion, at par with the very best stuff t...

Hey, "Save big money at Menards!"I can't believe I moved to a part of the country that doesn't have Lowes. I'm also a few miles outside of their appliance delivery range. Argh.
Stupid Menards.
I agree they are quite bad. And I hate the jingle....

Singer-songwriter. Something like 4-5 No. 1 Billboard 100 hits. All in my adult lifetime... And, in the past, she's got this look: :) http://i.ytimg.com/vi/9WHpk1tqfx4/maxresdefault.jpg When I saw the first picture today in one of the Czech papers, I really realized how (a) looks are transient and (...

Schumer is defitely cool - she is funny, and her good looks are a plus.
Of course, I am getting old - 1 bonus point for those who recognize this (quite popular in the past) lady

For the last several years, I am facing the following "problem": Apparently, I am quite an effective professor ( 8-) ), so after I finish teaching my course, there is always a group of students that tell/email me something like "I have never though that I'd be interested in your subject, but now I a...

bad jokes thread
Just in case somebody did not read my contribution to the "bad jokes" thread over at LGP. I learned this one when I was 15 (~30 years ago). I will never un-learn it. Remember, this is a BAD JOKES thread! :) A man visits a sex doctor and says: "Doctor, every time after I [have a good time with my wif...

Two videos with Crosby reaction after the finals (the first also includes a few more players, the second is just the expanded Crosby talk):

Luckily Malkin was another guy to stay. So was Tikhonov's grandson. I think things must have been quite embarrassing in the locker room after the game. http://oi58.tinypic.com/15hze6e.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CFPLaOvWYAEoY3G.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CFPLaOtWMAA4h1I.jpg https://pbs.twim...

Thanks to both. From what I just read on one of the Czech forums, there in fact was a group of 5 or so Russian players who waited until the Cup was handed. Then they left (still before the anthem) - but that was probably because they thought the anthem might not be played then. Ovechkin was apparent...

And Russians apparently caused a mini-scandal. The complete team left before the Canadian national anthem was played. If true, that some really bad sportsmanship.... Not surprised. If any team'd do that, it'd be Russia. Most of Russian team leaves ice during celebrations. Ovechkin appears to want t...

Frankly, it would've been a huge upset if ANYONE besides Canada would have won this tournament (and if they didn't dominate). The France loss is even more strange now. That being said... still gotta play the games. Props to the Canadians for playing. With the chemistry Giroux & Crosby're showing......

best national anthem
From purely melodic point of view - Finland, Sweden From "strangely awesome" point of view - Uruguay. It's pretty much an aria from an opera, lasts 6+ minutes (the longest national anthem in the world), the words are not sung until more than 1 minute into the anthem. And nothing against Germany, but...

It's not a best-on-best tournament, so it holds slightly less appeal even for me...though I've caught it when it's convenient for me... I am always slightly surprised by this argument, because based on the "quality of the product" offered, the Team Canada (and very likely the Team Russia) is better...

Hooray for Freiburg (my team ever since my college roommate became a professor at their university - sadly a few year ago he moved to the wasteland of Jena :) ). Three point against Bayern!
