The 2021 Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Team Season Thread

The Pirates botched two rundowns today. Greg Brown and Bob Walk were disgusted. However, not to be outdone in stupidity, Joc Peterson decides to run again and gets caught in another rundown ON THE NEXT PITCH after the second botched rundown. They managed to get him out though. Such bad baseball. I d...

My wife's car indeed need a new battery. I ended up pulling the battery and taking to O'Reilly's to charge and test, and they found a bad cell. So I bought a new battery, and was checking out videos about reinstalling a new battery. I assumed it was positive, then ground, and you're good to go (I wa...

I watched The Natural (HBO Max) for the first time in many, many years. Really good, obviously. I know it's been a meme, but Wilford Brimley was 49 in this film. Robert Redford was 47, playing a 35 year old. Richard Farnsworth, who plays the assistant coach, was 64...but Brimley looks like he's the ...

Although I don't remember much about his play on the field, I always liked Jim Rice mostly because his wife had a baby in the same hospital at the same time one of my siblings was born. Like my dad - who doesn't follow sports - was hanging out with Jim Rice in the waiting room, watching their kids a...

My employer - not giving raises again this year - is giving us gift cards to use with most local businesses. That's kind of a neat way to get money back into the local community, and not to Amazon, Wally World, or my savings account (like I've done with most of my stimmy funds).

So Governor Henry "Foghorn Leghorn" McMaster - running for reelection in 2022 - is asking for SC to pull stop all Federal unemployment benefits by June 30, so the lazy will get back to work. From the gub'ner hisself: South Carolina’s businesses have borne the brunt of the financial impact of the COV...

Source of the post Out of three stimuli I received somewhere around $15k total.
Do you believe this to be "the norm"?
No, because most people don't have 4 kids like Freddy  (See the population decline articles earlier in this thread)

The only issue I've encountered with the new WFH policies is now they are a fallback for people without enough accrued sick or vacation leave. I have a chronically ill employee that went out this week for surgery and will be out of work until the 16th (at least). Normally, she would take sick and va...

Freddy's right. Rona is over down south, baby. I know in our area, the population hasn't changed much over the last 20+ years. Yet more and more service type businesses - restaurants, retail - have opened, and require lots of staff to keep open seven days a week. SC had Blue Laws for many years, and...

I actually saw Cars 2 in the theater. So bizarre, the spy subplot. My kids liked it though. I never saw the third one, fortunately.

I watched Bliss (Amazon Prime) with Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek. Interesting premise, but goes off the rails in the final third of the film. - I have real issues with Owen Wilson acting a serious part because of how many thousands of times I sat through the movie Cars. I hear any straight dialogue f...

The Athletic has something by Matt Cooke on Tom Wilson. Anyone have a subscription? I'd love to see that too. @DigitalGypsy66 Matt Cooke has been where Tom Wilson was Tuesday: hogging hockey’s spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Most sixth-round draft picks don’t go on to play over 1,000 games, sc...

You know, I'm starting to wonder if this series could be better than its predecessor because it isn't tied to books (that may or may not have been written yet at the time of filming), like a Rogue One. Like we know it's a GoT property, but we have little or no expectations because there isn't 3000+ ...

I would imagine home building drops during the late fall/winter months for most of the country. For us, it’s a reasonable time of the year to work outside.
