I routinely hit 2+gb/month on my gigabit FiOS line. Switched from Comcast 9 years ago and would never, ever, go back to those clowns and their antiquated technology.

Thanks. It ended up being 15 days but I was still in the window. I chatted with support and they said no to just crediting my account. So they're getting an opened phone back and I already ordered another one at half price. It's silly, wasted phone and shipping, etc.You have 30 days to send the phone back. I would just contact them and they should hook you up with a price difference. If not, cancel and purchase the new one at half offBlah, the phone I bought on Fi last week is now half off. Lame.

I'll never understand why companies do this. Just pure waste.Source of the post It's silly, wasted phone and shipping, etc.

I get they don't want to issue a mad rush of credits. But my phone was delivered on the 18th and I think the sale went up over the weekend, on the 21st. Cut me some slack ffs.
They offered me $275 on trade for my S7 with the first purchase, but the Trade In Kit hasn't arrived. Tried to trade it in on the second purchase and they were offering $51, so I cancelled that. Curious to see if they'll honor the first one. If they do I basically get the phone for negative $25.

Samsung A71 5G for my business line. It was previously on an old Sprint Galaxy S7 I had laying around but I thought I'd take advantage of of Fi bringing in Samsung devices and did an upgrade.
My main line is a Pixel 3a. It's good, but not as great as the Galaxy's I've had for the last 10 years. I don't know if I would do a Pixel again, particularly if there is a Samsung available.

Armstrong cable has had data caps for a while now. When I moved to Cranberry 4 years ago, the cap was something like lame like 300GB/month, and that was the 3rd tier plan. The same plan has 2TB/month now, but still lame that it's capped at all.

So, can anyone tell me how to figure out how much data I use? Since I bought my own modem it doesn't show up on the Xfinity page. I use a MOTOROLA MT7711.Comcast Prepares to Screw Over Millions With Data Caps in 2021

Unless you're using a router that has traffic monitoring enabled, you're unlikely to see that data. I only say that assuming that your data usage isn't actually shown on the bill (it's not on mine). So, can anyone tell me how to figure out how much data I use? You can track data usage on your individual Windows 10 device, if you wanted to, but you'd have to reset the usage every month. It also isn't going to define local and internet traffic. If you wanted to check that out:
- Click on your Start menu and type data usage overview and launch the system setting
- You should now see the data usage for your adapters
- Click on the Data usage button for a breakdown by app, and to reset the stats

What router do you have? Maybe it logs the data use.So, can anyone tell me how to figure out how much data I use? Since I bought my own modem it doesn't show up on the Xfinity page. I use a MOTOROLA MT7711.

Spectrum used to post our data usage in our account page, but they no longer do that or claim to track data usage (yeah right lol). But I can get my router to track that, and probably should enable that setting. Looking at Spectrum's services, they have a bullet point that says "No Data Caps!" which is new. My guess is that if Comcast can get away with it, others will follow suit.
Hopefully, the FCC can straighten this out with new leadership.

Just be mindful that enabling traffic monitoring will add overhead to the CPU in your router.

It still amazes me that they have upload speeds that you'd expect from a internet package from 10 years ago.I routinely hit 2+gb/month on my gigabit FiOS line. Switched from Comcast 9 years ago and would never, ever, go back to those clowns and their antiquated technology.
I can't find a more recent listing, but this was posted six months ago.
Edit: oh wait, I did find something more recent: https://www.dslreports.com/faq/15643

Yep - I can't believe they haven't addressed this yet. I know a few people who work at Verizon, and they told me that the equipment in place can handle far greater speeds than Comcast will ever be able to handle, and whenever Comcast eventually matches it (like gigabit), they flip a switch and offer a higher speed service. New age trolling.Source of the post It still amazes me that they have upload speeds that you'd expect from a internet package from 10 years ago.

Another endorsement for FIOS. I've had them since I bought my house in 2007. Reliable and no data caps, and I regularly see speeds higher than my plan.

I went with Ooma. For $65 upfront for hardware and about $6.80/month for taxes, it seems to work well so far. I hope to never have to use it, but it's good insurance.Does anyone have experience with non-ISP VOIP options like Ooma, Magic Jack, etc.? I'm looking to get a "landline" for emergencies, but I'll be damned if I'm paying Comcast whatever it is they charge.

Equipment question: Are hardware-level VPNs worthwhile? I mean like on a router or modem or whatever. Instead of installing clients on all the devices and computers, I'd rather just have a catchall that secures all traffic.

When you say hardware-level VPNs, do you really mean a physical device that you put in between your internet and router? I know nobody who uses one, personally. Many aftermarket routers have the capability to run VPN software on the router itself so that all traffic is routed through the tunnel, and no VPN clients are required. That is definitely a huge advantage over going the client route.Equipment question: Are hardware-level VPNs worthwhile? I mean like on a router or modem or whatever.
