That has apparently been one of the main knocks on Williams this year. He hasn't had the moment of clarity that all of the players on the defense are also the best in the world and he sometimes doesn't play with the life-preservative urgency that some situations demand.

It still amazes me that NFL broadcasts do a universal audio mute when someone gets cursey on the field. Life they can't just mute the hot mic or ambient muc mix? The entire broadcast goes silent for 2 seconds.

It’s likely censored during the delay so that would be why you can’t just mute specific mics.

Right that's my point. They haven't figured out a way to address that other than the 'master'.

They would have to know when the cursing is going to happen before it happens though. I get why the network games are censored. For the games on cable/streaming they should let the expletives fly.

Would they? They couldn't just have the same sort of 'dump' on the audio as it comes in to the production truck, so they can bleep/mute stuff before it goes to the main?

I'm not really talking about the sideline interviews, that's the hot mic. I mean when the parabolic field mics pick up dudes laying verbal waste. It's surprising to me that there's no way to catch that before it gets summed and sent out to the world.

Anyway, enough is enough on the topic.

I honestly don’t know. I figured everything was cut live to “tape” and the only chance to catch anything would be by the network censors during the delay. Which is why sometimes that stuff slips through. This feels like a question for @Orlando Penguin

That was hilariously dumb. The side/field judge that threw the flag even looked like "Did I just see that?"

DET might end up really needing some of those points they missed by settling for field goals early.

Tomlin-esque clock management after the 2 minute warning. Brutal.

I have no idea what that was. My dad stepped out of the room for the last minute and I couldn't even explain the ending.

I get that they were not lining up quickly but at that point the coach has to call a timeout. Williams is worried about getting the snap off. I hate Williams just as much as everyone else but coach needed to step in and call it. Run a quick 8 yard out route out of bounds. Kick the FG and play for OT.
