My only gripe would be that I’m not a fan of the PS controllers. I would take my Elite 2 over them any day of the week.

Is anyone else taking a crack at buying one of these today? Only 12,300 are available globally. The US allocation opens up at 10am. The PS5 Pro version is only being sold through Sony, which I'm happy with since all the US allocations are pooled together.

If I can't secure a console I should be able to get a controller at least.

I really hope that their next gen console isn't fugly like this thing is. Smaller, too, if possible.

I mean, I did it with my XSX. Hell, I wrote a PowerShell script to check that inventory checker constantly, and I know that worked because I had a PS5 in my cart before deciding against buying it (already had the XSX at the time).

I have a feeling a special edition limited release console will be harder to grab than a launch console but maybe not. It'd be nice if they did something to combat the scalpers but only producing 12,300 is not a great start.

I was hoping that Sony would give priority to existing and established PSN users. The queue is 'random' but I would hope it would be weighted randomization with accounts less than a month old given a lower priority. And accounts that were opened in 2008 top priority. ;)

There are already scalped listings on eBay in Australia and the UK, though. Even though the hardware won't be released for like 5-6 more weeks.

Someone was selling the 'chance at buying' the PS5 Pro 30th on eBay for $5,000 but eBay took the listing down.

I'm a pretty big Sony guy and love the first party games they put out but only doing 12,300 of these is stupid. I don't want a pro, but I would by that 30th anniversary edition in a heartbeat if it wouldn't be such a huge PITA to try to get one.

It's not really a PITA, it's just luck of the draw. Although the non-Pro is being released at other retailers so that adds an element. For the Pro I just have to sit in Sony's queue and see if I'm randomized far enough to the front.

That said, I loaded the queue about 45 minutes ago and it's been 'paused' for over 20 minutes now. But I think it's paused for everyone so it might not matter.

It's luck of the draw but the draw gets a lot luckier if you have thousands of bots working for you in the queue.

I'm speaking specifically about the effort. It's monitoring one tab for a few minutes for one morning, not like I'm knocking down the Wal-Mart greeter on Black Friday.

Best Buy's servers are probably overloaded, I haven't logged in for years and need a password reset. The 2FA and e-mail reset functions are not working.
