This is going to be good!tifosi77 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 4:07 pm Good god it's an amazing game. It's super super stressful, and if you have anything in your house that's prone to making sudden unexpected noises at inopportune times (like, say, a beagle) it's that much more stressful. I personally didn't really care for the ending, but the 25+ hrs it took me to get there was stellar.
(I'm a completionist and IP fanboi so I spent a lot of time just wandering around the environment)

I watched the video and I can't shake the idea that this was some sort of SNL/MAD TV skit and not an actual thing that exists lol

Enjoying the D4 expansion so far.
Finished the campaign last night. Spiritborn is awesome, playing a Quill Volley build, having a blast.
Finally unlocked a cat mount a bit ago in one of the post campaign quests.
In general I like the changes so far, but I haven't gotten into much of the Endgame just yet.
My only real complaint is the Realmwalker portion of the season theme is slow and boring. Once the portal spawns, the rest is fine but up till that point... Blah.
Still getting used to some of the changes, but seems like the game continues to improve all the time... The mess that was the initial launch is long behind us now.

Doing Quill Volley as well. Just finished up a Tier 2 Horde with 1,117 aether. Probably my best run ever, and that was only with 5 items with any MW level. Holding out for better gear.
Also got a Heart of Bud Selig from the unique Undercity tribute. Have a feeling that's going to be a really good avenue for mythic chances.

Purchased a steamdeck and got it last night. It is surprisingly light and pretty comfortable to hold. Looking forward to seeing how different games run. TMNT Sheedder's Revenge was enjoyable.

Let me know how it goes LBL!
I've got a Legion Go because a lot of my vintage games were Windows based and there's already enough hoops to get them to run on Win11 that I didn't need to throw converting them to Linux in there too. It's pretty massive, but unfortunately I still need bifocals to play most things on it.

Added this to my DVR. I know the history pretty well by now but it's always fun to see different interpretations of it.
There was also a "Game Changers" movie about vintage gaming that I tagged, no idea what it's about.

Been playing through Dragon Age Veilguard, and having a blast so far. I've met all of the companions and am jumping into some of the side missions.
The art direction is a bit different...the character models are a little more cartoony-ish...but the environments are gorgeous. The character creator is solid. The story isn't really up to DA:O (or even DA2), but has already hit some great notes, especially with the companion quests. Combat is fun and fluid, with some cool strategy elements (companion abilities can coordinate with other companions or yours, so you can 'prime' a target with an ability, and a coordinating ability can 'detonate' the primed target). It makes it fun to switch up your team and take on different big bads with different strategies.
This is a game that reaffirms my feelings of 'don't read reviews'. If you don't know, the game basically got review bombed because there's some 'woke' stuff in it, and it's absolutely hilarious playing thru it and realizing how much you have to 'look' for it to even see it. I mean it's there, like an optional dialogue choice you make early in the game basically infers that your character is trans, but so far none of it is 'focused'. I'd bet that anyone being critical of it either went in looking for it specifically, or didn't play the game at all.

This is my first real foray into a Dragon Age game. I have yet to play Origins and DA2, and I just couldn't get into Inquisition, though I'm going to revisit it when I'm done with Veilguard.genoscoif wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 11:42 am Been playing through Dragon Age Veilguard, and having a blast so far. I'm really enjoying Veilguard. I'm taking my time (just picked up Bellara as a companion), but it's a lot of fun. The combat is a blast. The "prime/detonate" stuff feels ripped right from Anthem; Anthem as a game was not great, Bob, but the combat was terrific so that was good to see (tangent: hoping for Anthem-style combat in the next Mass Effect game, too). I do like the linear nature of the quests so far. There's enough room for exploration in most of the areas but it doesn't feel like you'll get distracted or sent off on too many of the fetch quests you tend to get in the open world games. That said, I've read that it becomes more open-worldy as the game moves on but I don't think that will be an issue.
And I completely agree on the "don't read reviews" thing. It's just gotten to the point with the whining about the woke stuff that I expect and ignore it. Female protagonist? Any reference to LGBQT? They're going to be angry. It's so easy to predict now it's pathetic, especially because in DA:V, you really do have to look for it.
