Fernstrom (the prospect) was a 3rd rounder from last year's draft.

Can't believe they got a first for Pettersson. Classic JR move.

Getting a first out of Pettersson is nice. Dude has been so inconsistent this season and part of the reason why we’re in the dumps anyway

The 2025 draft pick is top-13 protected and transfers to 2026 if it falls in the top 13
it’s the Rags pick too

That's a very weak return.

Wish they had also gotten a worthwhile young player, but the 1st is a decent return.

Just watched a bit of Fernstrom. He's pretty smart, ok technically, not a very good skater. Interesting shot from the angles in which he can whip it, has some creativity. Raw, underdeveloped. Doesn't look like a play driver though.

We know Heinen. He's all shot and nothing.

Desharnais is just a less effective Hal Gill type.

They got a first rounder for Pettersson. This is an easy W.

Desharnais is a big lug
Heinen I'm thinking won't finish the season here

This was what I said the other day. Seems pretty close to this.
King Colby wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 12:20 pm Well done.

In the absence of creativity, I’d expect to see pettersson go for a prospect and a 2025 2nd, DOC for a 2026 3rd, Gryz for a 2025 3rd

I’d also watch for another tomasino-like pickup especially from teams who need to clear cap and/or roster space for deadline acquisitions.

There have only been 4 Petterssons in NHL history. 3 of them currently play for vancouver

They’re at about $73M for next year so I guess they’ll have to clear like $6M to be able to give Marner and Rantanen $15M a year

I think the return is solid. A first for Pettersson and a decent prospect for DOC.

Bringing in Heinen makes me wonder if Dubas is considering throwing Rakell out there to see if he can get a haul for him while selling at his highest value

That's what Twitter says and I just don't agree. It's also not in the mold of the deals Dubas has been looking for and making. This doesn't look like a good draft on its face and we took two scratch-worthy contracts back with term.

The value of the pick is highly variable right now, so I guess that's the thing to look forward to. It could be top 10 in 2026, for instance...
