NHL has all East Coast games starting at 8 to keep the exclusivity of the Winter Classic which starts at 5.

The Caps and Bruins are playing right now so…i don’t think that’s true. Also there’s a 3pm game (Isles at Knights) which will overlap with the winter classic

Also tomorrow there’s only one game: Devils at Kings, which feels very random. Why are they moving the winter classic to NYE from now on (just read that this year is the first year and it’ll be on NYE in the future as well)? Seems odd. I guess to avoid the CFB playoff? but they have games on both days anyway

It’s at 730 and will 100% overlap with the winter classic which won’t start probably until 5:20-5:30ish.

And a thousand other hockey games

Vegas has played 4 previous home games on NYE and all of them started at noon or 12:30 local. I'm guessing they got a special exemption from Uncle Gary because it's Vegas and NYE.
