That's great news, and I'm glad Bambu did right by you! I'm the same way with boxes - I break them down almost immediately. Stopped doing it after I had the same issue that you did, so now I keep them around for a few weeks, then trash them. Definitely ask if they can delay shipping, just say you'll be out of town. Their shipping right now is way behind due to their Black Friday sales, so I imagine it won't be an issue.iamjs wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 7:39 am Don't feel too bad. I'm getting a new printer! They reassured me that I wouldn't be getting a factory refurb, so that's kinda cool.
So with the holidays coming up and my travel schedule being all over the place, I'm wondering if I can have them ship it after the new year. I really don't want it sitting outside in the rain/snow and more importantly, don't want any porch pirates getting any ideas. I could drop them a line in the ticket saying do not send out until after 1/5/25, but I don't know how big of a team I'm dealing with and/or how many different hands this will be going through.
And now for the bad news, which I can only blame myself for: I had to buy packing material from them since I got rid of my box almost immediately after my printer came. They want pics of it being packaged in a certain manner, which I completely understand. But if they're going to be re-issuing me a new printer, I have no problems with this.

I'll be installing a hitch on my wife's Passport next weekend, and I showed her a few different hitch covers to see if she wanted something. Well, she really liked this design, so I printed it out today. Basically took the image file that I found and broke it down into layers of color in Photoshop. Exported both to .png, then converted both to .svg (https://imagetostl.com FTW). Added the base .svg to the slicer, then added the purple details .svg to the base, played with the heights, and then cut up somebody's hitch design and added that. Need to fit it when the hitch arrives, but it turned out nice. I love that whoever designed the hitch designed those tabs so that I didn't have to print out a hitch bolt or anything.

This one is the 2nd of two that I printed last night. The first one printed with no issues.
This one had all sorts of printing issues along the back. I don't know if I didn't clean the plate good enough, but the bottom of the triangle warped up and the white around the edges didn't seem like it printed as clean as the one from last night.

Honestly looks like not all of the black filament was purged during some of those white sections.

Soooo...
As you can tell from the first tweet, my camera does work and I'm able to watch the live prints from my phone. But I'm still getting the warnings about the camera being offline and not being able to detect the build plate. I'm still gonna send it back before I leave for vacation.
I spent $60 on shipping boxes, so I might as well use them.

I printed out a wrapping paper cutter designed to work with a standard utility blade, and it works really well. It only has 2mm holes for the blade, so I just added two negative part cylinders that were 3mm, and now my 3mm screws fit perfectly. Used a few washers to prevent the ends of the screws from protruding too much, even though it wouldn't do anything if they did.

My daughter’s eyelash lawnmower thingamagig broke, and she asked if I could fix it. A few minutes in obshape, two sketches and a revolve, and it was off to the printer.

I wanted to print this before I went home for Christmas, but now I'm racing the clock trying to print off the arms before I go on vacation on Tuesday. Plan is to send off my printer late Monday and have its replacement shortly after I return from vacation on the 8th. They said turnaround time was 5-7 days once received, so I should be fine in regards to being here when the replacement printer shows up.

Supports will always take a lot of material, but tree supports are generally easier to remove. I think my settings are in a post in this thread a few pages back.

I printed out a small vertical stand for Tite Bond wood glue for my wood project this weekend, and used the last ELEGOO PLA spool in my AMS. It jammed 9 times during the 40 minute print. Still had a little PLA left, but I tossed the entire thing instead. Love the PLA, hate the damn cardboard spools.

What's the worst delay that you've had from Bambu support?
They sent me an email back on the 3rd saying that since I didn't return my printer that they were closing my ticket. The response got routed to spam so I completely missed it until this past Saturday. More importantly, we agreed that they were fine with me sending it back after the 8th because I would be on vacation and I didn't want the printer sitting in front of my house unattended if it were to get delivered. I've emailed them several times since finding their email and no response.
This is the one instance where I wish they had a customer service number. I get that a tech can't hang on the line waiting for the printer to run self checks beforehand, but this is more of an admin issue than anything.

good news: finally got my printer back.
bad news: filament broke off after a spool ran out and I'm trying to find the end of it so I can extract.

Finally figured out where the filament was stuck in the extruder. Only took me three times of ripping the extruder apart to find it. Two little pieces caused the jam. If you combined the both of them, they couldn't have been more than 1/8 of an inch combined.
Oh well, at least now I know how to rip apart that section of my printer.

He pulled this move a few years ago, too. Quit posting and then I found him on reddit. Wonder if someone pissed him off.
