Pittsburgh sports are still locally holding out. Yohe/Madden, etc. still haven’t made the switch, so it’s roughly annoying.DigitalGypsy66 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 8:14 pm Try again. Tons of sports accounts are over there now.

That's sounds nice, actually.

I follow DK, Rossi, Wes Crosby, and Taylor Haase on Bluesky. Plenty of national folks are there too.Morkle wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 7:55 pmPittsburgh sports are still locally holding out. Well now it sounds bad again.
Why would a smart person like you follow Rossi?

Perhaps I’m not as smart as you think I am.
Really it was a follow frenzy when I first went through Bluesky, looking to populate my feed. Once I hit a solid constant stream, I’ll do some purging.

Bluesky has starter packs of like minded users. Plus feeds, which are customized timelines with specific topics. There's a good one called PittsburghSkeets with a lot of the usual suspects from Pittsburgh Twitter.
This is also a directory of starter packs: https://blueskydirectory.com/starter-packs/all

I don’t use Twitter other than googling sports news or highlights and appending “Twitter” because it’s typically the most concise way to find news/clips and share them and so I’m not really impassioned about Bluesky either way. That said, having looked at Bluesky quickly, there are two major annoynaces with it. First is they don’t own Bluesky.com…even worse their domain is “bsky” which is a baffling decision. Buy “bluesky.xyz” or something; using an abbreviation is dumb
secondly, their usernames are actually domains as they are an implementation of their “AT protocol” which, I understand both technically and why they would implement it that way but that said…it’s extraordinarily ugly having URLs be de facto usernames. It’s redundant for 99% of profiles who will just be “bigweiner.bsky.social”

Do they make BlueSky embedding plugins for phpBB?

The 'Starter Packs' on BlueSky have been quite helpful.

Butthurt is one word for it...
There's no denying that one reason for the influx of users to Bluesky is due to Musk being full blown MAGA, but people have been searching for a viable alternative to twitter ever since Elon bought it. The idea that it's only because people are mad about the election is short sighted, imo.

Also, “**** Elon” is enough of a reason to leave twitter.
