Are they from around the Baldwin or homestead area? I feel like I've heard my family tell me this same story...robbiestoupe wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 9:34 pm I had an uncle Dick and my other uncles had me believing his real name was Harry and that his friends called him big Harry Dick. My daughter and I had a conversation about taking a 'test flight' soon to see how she does. She'd like it to be a short flight in case she has issues, so I figure staying within an hour or so is best. Washington DC seems to be the cheapest options with both AA and United, so that'll be my target. If she does have issues, it's at least a shorter drive back in a rental. Gonna talk to her again before I redeem one of my vouchers on tickets, because it's still around $600 for all three of us, which is absolutely insane.

The district built a tax estimator for these options where you can use your parcel to figure out what each option costs. For us, the low end is $685/year, with the high end being $1675/year. The option I want is between $838-1021/year. Honestly not sure I see this passing when it comes time to vote. Taxes in our district are already pretty high as it is.NTP66 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 6:56 am Our middle school was built in 1964, and has a laundry list of issues. The school district has been working on plans to replace it for a while, and has come up with four options:
The board will be voting on the best option between November and January, and it'll wind up being a referendum on a future ballot. They gave a presentation about each option, going into detail about each one, and I am hoping for option 2. Not the cheapest, but it's the best option of the bunch, and will elevate the district to another level.
- Option 1: Renovate and/or Remodel the Existing Middle School ($206-$268mm, open 2032)
- Option 2: Build a New Middle School on the Existing Middle School Property ($252-$307mm, open 2032)
- Option 3: Two Middle School Option ($320-$497mm, open 2034)
- Option 4: Create Two Middle Schools, One for 7th and 8th Grade Students and Another for 5th and 6th Grade Students ($365-$505mm, open 2034)
A few facts I was unaware of, too:
- Our middle school is the largest in the entire county, with more than 800 students more than the next largest
- We are the second largest middle school in the entire state

Youch. I'm surprised it'll take that long to build a new school. Our High School did a two story 75k sqft addition in like 9 months while school was going on.

I think all options are around 5 years, with the most expensive ones (two new schools) being closer to 7. So, it’d be painful.

Every year, the elementary grades host a concert where each grade sings a song, then the whole elementary sings a song together. Last year little c2i wore a super sparkly dress that blinded the crowd, but it was big enough then that it still fits this year. We tried it on this morning, and it was a little short, but still fits.
On our walk to the bus stop this morning:
"Dad, can we talk about my dress for the christmas concert?"
"Sure, kid. What's up?"
"I think it might be a little bit too short. I'm worried that people are going to see my butt."

Oh yeah. We worked it all out, I just thought it was funny that her #1 concern was people seeing her butt.

The post partum depression is already hitting my wife. I don't remember it coming this early, or this bad. But maybe it's just that I'm more attune to it the third time around. She's taken meds for it the last two. She broke down this morning crying about how no one is here supporting us (it's true, the third time around I guess everyone just figures you got this). The baby was crying bad last night, I got him settled down but she was still upset. It's definitely the worst time of year to have a newborn too cause I already have a 6 year old who is wired waking up at 5:30 every morning to see where the damn elf went to also

Yeah, but you just renewed your excuse for getting out of ****. Didn't know you had another, but congrats! Loved going from 2 to 3 kids. Just wait until you have 3 teenagers, then you really don't exist in the world except to drive them around everywhere at all hours. I'm prepping for a colonoscopy today and it's the most time I've had to myself in a looooong time haha

Found out Cam Heyward’s son is playing basketball in the same league as my son. Kid is probably 5’2” and 9 years old. Absolutely dominates but only because he just holds the ball above his head and no other kid can get it
Anyway, our team scrimmaged his today and was happy to see my son steal the ball, take it all the way down the court and make a basket. In this league, games will be 12-8 most of the time, so it was cool seeing him get one.
