Him standing up for Vasilevskiy is fine and "that guy from Vegas" is pretty funny. Mocking the Habs fans for being excited about an OT win in the Final is weird. If that interview took place in his locker stall, it'd be perfect. Having the official press conference setting makes it pretty embarrassing for the league.

I don't love the Montreal comment either, but I'm not throwing the baby out with the bath water because I get to watch it sober as a native English speaker the next morning after not winning the Cup last night...

Malkin legit didn't know some of his teammates names at points here, we thought it was a riot...

I guess my issue is that they just won the cup and two seconds into his interview, he is talking about individual awards and throwing other guys under the bus - not even addressing the question that was asked.

the interview was fine outside of the shots at Flower and MTL fans, no real need for that. But otherwise, dude just won the Cup and was hammered, whatever

I don't think not being a native English speaker has anything to do with him bringing up how the fans celebrated the Game 4 win. It's not like he confused a word there. He wasn't asked about it and had no reason to bring it up. His English seemed fine.

The Montreal comments seemed particularly classless IMO. You want to take that time to pump Vasey and say you think he shoulda got the Vezina have at it though. All in all 6/10 on the cringe scale.

I'm on the "people complain about robots, then you got a drunk guy talking mad **** and people are mad."

I found everything he said hilarious, including the QC fan mocking. If you've played any of those people on EA NHL, they rightfully deserve to have their egos mocked.

It's crazy how Vasi is 26 and he probably had the HoF locked up even before winning that second cup. I hope his career trajectory stays in the skyrocket realm, because he could be the best when it's all said and done.

Oh probably not with Covid protocols. Not sure. I just mean the environment makes a difference here. Drunk, shirtless, and shitting on losing team's fans in the official press conference area with the table, sponsor logos, official merch, and step & repeat background comes off worse than had it been in the locker room.

I didn't mind the interview. I think him telling the reporter to get a new mic and dodinting about being asked 4 questions instead of 2 are more insensitive than pumping up his teammate and getting smashed.

The outward size of a chest protector doesn’t do too much. It doesn’t increase the “footprint” a goalie takes up in the net. It makes you a little stickier with pucks staying close to you when you make a save.
