The line on this game is currently Pitt -3. Another super panther game that no mortal man would logically bet on.
I'm genuinely excited to see how this pans out. Pitt's D dominated the 'Cuse, but Malik (Micale?) Cunningham is substantially better at everything compared to Tommy DeVito. Another good showing by the defensive line would go a long way to wining this game.
Other things that would help
-no more stupid penalties
-Someone at a "skill" ( I use parenthesis because "skill" on offense is very subjective for this super panther roster) position have a breakout game
-no special teams gaffes. Im not even saying do gr8 things on special teams, just like, not fumble a snap
if pitt wins, they have a good chance of winning 9 games.

I bet on Ville. This is a game Pitt usually loses.

Same. Our golf league end of season field day is going off at 12:30. Which I'm bummed about. But I'll either end up happy I played golf instead of watching or happy that Pitt won

This game is all about Whipple opening up the playbook.
They do the conservative nonsense and they lose. No matter how stout the defense.

I agree with Freddy.
The win over Syracuse was great from a defensive standpoint. It was equally frustrating to watch the offense. Twice in that game, Pickett was able to get into a rhythm and he responded by stringing together a few medium-to-long passes, moved them down the field, and capped them off with long passes to Addison and Wayne for touchdowns.
Those kind of drives need to happen at least once a quarter, not once a half. Group of Five programs have coaches who can take rosters full of 2-star and 3-star recruits and turn them into offenses that generate balanced attacks, and they've done it against P5 programs. A perfect example is the head coach on the opposite sideline today. There is no reason why Pitt can't and hasn't been able to do this going on four years now.
I don't care how good the defense is...at some point, the offense has to start carrying more of the load here. They have to start attacking and they have to maintain that approach throughout the game. I think the team's failure to establish a running game goes a long way here, and maybe that happens last week if Daniel Carter doesn't get hurt on his second carry. But 21 points scored in a game where your defense did 99% of everything needed to do isn't going to cut it against anyone else on the schedule.
It speaks to 1) a relative lack of creativity in the offensive game plans, and maybe worse, 2) this coaching staff's inability to develop playmakers or a system that maximizes what they have. The most explosive offensive threats we've seen in the Narduzzi era came largely from the classes the previous coach brought in - Boyd, Conner, Ollison, Hall, Henderson, Weah, Orndoff. AJ Davis has shown nothing that leads me to believe he was a 4-star recruit who had like 20+ P5 offers. Todd Sibley can't even get a handoff from a QB. With Lucas Krull's status supposedly up in the air, this may be the fourth straight year where the TE position has been a complete non-factor in an era where TEs have never been used more.
Addison looks to be on his way toward being a playmaker this offense needs. Wayne looks like a terrific possession receiver. Maybe Kyi Wright emerges at TE if Krull doesn't. Vincent Davis can and has popped some long runs. Maybe he, Daniel Carter, and/or Abanikanda become the type of impact RBs this program had with Conner, Ollison, Hall, Dion Lewis, and Ray Graham. There are still a lot of unknowns.
This feels a lot like the UCF game did last year. They can't get up by 17 or 21 and then go into a shell. If this Louisville defense is as bad as it looked against Miami, this is a great opportunity for them to open things up and keep attacking.

The good news, per Panther Lair:
No players out from COVID, so we’ve got that going for us, which is nice.
The bad news:
Wendell Davis out with a leg injury. Chase Pine starts.
Lucas Krull AND Kyi Wright are both out.
Erick Hallett is out. Presumably Brandon Hill will be the nickel back.
Jake Zilinskas also out.
TEs for today are Daniel Moraga, Kaymar Mimes, Grant Carrigan, and Chris Maloney. Krull is supposedly there but not in uniform.
Also DJ Turner is wearing “7” today.
