To think that everyone whined for weeks about how stupid Rutherford was for sending DeSmith down (through waivers) while keeping up Jarry... oh wait, nobody did.

Hard fought win. Not often a goalie steals 2 points - but it's needed when the lineup is depleted.
Malkin played hard in all zones. When he is going great, he scores some ugly goals. Tonight, he showed he is capable of being a very good player in this league for 5+ seasons.
Tanev continues to just erase guys along the boards. His play on the EN goal was textbook separation of player from puck.
They still need that guy who can win a big defensive zone draw. Without Jarry's acrobatics, that void would have been exposed tonight.

Yeah, I remember someone (Jim?) saying something like that and I wasn't sure if I was misremembering six weeks ago, but I thought everyone was basically like, "yeah, DeSmith sucks...protect the asset" - I know I never liked DeSmith, I was also unconvinced Jarry had a lot of value either at the time, given the circumstances of other teams' rosters...To think that everyone whined for weeks about how stupid Rutherford was for sending DeSmith down (through waivers) while keeping up Jarry... oh wait, nobody did.
