Of course I post it on FB and everybody gives me the "you need to go to __________. Don't go to Pat's." I'm just a tourist doing touristy stuff. If I wanted to check out the best cheesesteak in Philly, I would have asked ahead of time. I just wanted to go to Pat's/Geno's because I had only been there once before late at night and don't remember much about the last visit.
I quit telling people who live in Buffalo I'm going to Duff's, because I get a dozen local bar suggestions where they have the secret local best wings and I'm like, nah, Duff's is fine. Although Bar Bill is also excellent.

This is where you lost me.
Since I'm really basic when it comes to my cheesesteaks, I'm probably not going to notice much difference regardless of where I go. I prefer the standard steak and cheese whiz, so spending the extra time to seek out the best cheesesteak place in Philly is kinda pointless. Pat's was close to 95, so I knew going in that I wouldn't have to stray too far off the path since I was heading home. And maybe the other places were equally as close, but I guess it was more about going for the local landmark vs the cheesesteak itself.

That said, Pat's was kinda meh. It somehow got better when I took the leftover half and toasted it for five minutes later that evening.

So I shouldn't tell you that you were still close to superior cheesesteaks? ;)

Good. Wish the cutoff was 2 hours, but this is better than nothing.

It’s still very frustrating that it only applies if you don’t fly on that delayed flight nor rebook

like, interestingly, if a flight is overbooked and you are unable to fly, not only do you get a refund, but the airline is obligated to give you a certain multiplier of the ticket price more as well as automatically rebook you on another flight (this happened to me on a spirit flight 10 years ago). You could theoretically be “delayed” the same amount of time and not get **** if it’s a flight that you “need” to take

It’s a step in the right direction but the power airlines have over controlling peoples schedules over the name of profits is still ridiculous. And the “free market” doesn’t really apply with how hard it is for a new business to join the space

My son is flying back from Detroit this morning, via Delta. I checked him in from here, and already had the app on his phone so he could add the boarding pass to his Apple Wallet. That was fine, but I noticed his seat changed overnight. Is that common? It was a pretty full flight, but I don't think sold out. He just moved up one row, and from F (window) to A (window), so it's no big deal. I just don't fly enough to know how often this happens.

Not often, but an equipment change is the most likely culprit, IME.

Single flyers get moved around a lot to accommodate groups. It happens to my wife all the time, she books a window and gets moved to the middle seat almost every time she flies. She hates that one trick.

This is one of those things that should never happen, either. It's one thing for an agent/FA to ask you to move when you board, but to do it beforehand? Nah, **** that. People pick the seat they want for a reason.

Interesting, it's an Airbus A320 which I think it was yesterday. He texted me and said that my employer's women's basketball team is on his flight, so they probably shifted seats around to accommodate them. They were up there to play Central Michigan last night - Antonio Brown's alma mater

when I flew to Hawaii for my 50th birthday, we bought one ticket with cash and one with miles. the place config was 2-5-2 so naturally we took 2 on the 2 side. the day before they changed my seat to the other side of the plane, 2 rows farther back and on the inside aisle all because we didn't "link" our reservations together. I never even got a notice that they changed my seat, I just happened to check. :face:

Was that a 747? I wasn't aware of any airlines running a 2-5-2 on anything else.

Heading down to Kill Devil Hills for the long weekend. Staying with some friends out in the Colington area. I love the outer banks in the off season. When we lived on the Crystal Coast my wife and I would pick a random weekend in February and book a place in Hatteras and just relax. Hoping to capture the same vibe this weekend.

That said, I did rent a plane and an instructor so I can fly from Manteo down to Beufort, along the coast. That will be fun but not really relaxing. We're stopping in Beaufort to meet some friends for lunch before flying back.

Very cool. I hope OBX has more of an offseason than we have here these days. Ocrocoke in late December last year was excellent.

I read the wsj article about Spirit. This isn’t the end of the road for them, probably just looking to move the deck on the titanic when it comes to their debt load

Airlines are certainly no strangers to bankruptcy reorganizations.

I think we all really want Spirit to recover and continue in business. Because otherwise, the people that so often fly Spirit will end up sitting next to us on other carriers. It's like a "people of Walmart" parade in there.

My GF and I fly spirit if it's available cause it's cheap and most airline prices are dumb. 🤷 One time I got essentially four rows to myself since they wanted to redistribute weight towards the back of the plane. Which seemed odd to me since I'm like, 145ish, but, w/e, just laid down and peaced out for the flight.

My wife has wanted to go to New York during Christmastime since I’ve known her. We are finally biting the bullet and making it happen this year. We’re staying near Grand Central. Hit me with the best touristy Christmas **** that mikey wouldn’t be caught dead at.

Also delicious restaurants.
