I've always rooted for Calgary as a secondary team, as they won the cup right around the time I became a hockey fanatic. I rocked a Flames jersey all throughout middle school. I haven't bought a jersey since Lemieux came out of retirement, but if this happens, it's tempting.

When I was a kid, we had a cat that looked just like that. We named him Jags.Gaucho wrote:https://twitter.com/68Jagr/status/914308056686759937

Did he also drink Jose Cuervo?

Incidentally, in Czech, "my cat" = "my hot girlfriend".Gaucho wrote:https://twitter.com/68Jagr/status/914308056686759937

I mean, I know he's old and his foot speed has slowed down drastically, but that's a hell of a deal for a guy who put up 46 points last year and can still quarterback the hell out of the power play. The Blues apparently made an offer but Jagr turned them down. Also, Jagr and Keith Tkachuk were both drafted in 1990 and now Jagr will play with his kid, so that's weird.

iSport.cz has an interview with Jagr (Google translated: https://translate.google.com/translate? ... edit-text= ). Some interesting tidbits:
Q: What made you pick Calgary in the end? The St. Louis offer was similar.
A: Practically identical. Calgary...{exhales} was one of the teams that was there since the beginning. St. Louis came calling only after their players got injured. There is a possibility that some of their guys would return during the season, and I would be pushed aside. Regardless of how I play. In Calgary, I believe everything will be open and whatever happens is up to me.
Q: Your contract is being described as $1M + another $1M as a bonus. Didn't money matter anymore?
A: A few would offer more to somebody as old as me. On the other hand, there is no pressure now. {laughing} Being the worst paid player on the roster isn't actually that bad. No one will expect 50, 60 points in the season. Third, fourth line - no problem.
Q: Did it matter that you know coach Glen Gulutzan a little bit?
A: Yep, we talked to each other. He coached me in Dallas, so we have been sort of connected. I have some rough idea...
Q: Is Canada special for you? The first contract in this country.
A: It will be interesting. I have never played there, so one of the reasons was to experience it. It's 99.9% likely this will be my last NHL season, so I can at least say that once in my career I will have played for a Canadian team.
Q: Did you recall the match you played in 1989 against Calgary in Prague?
A: My first match for the {Czechoslovak} National Team. I was 17, just a little different situation. Symbolic.

So there's a chance.

One interesting issue with Jagr's new team - which I was not aware until yesterday, but, hooray for Czech tabloids - is that Michael Frolik's (CGY) spouse (Diana Kobzanova) and Jagr's girlfriend (Veronika Koprivova) have been involved in pretty fierce social media feud over the last year.
I bet you can find a lot of juicy details on the internet yourselves...

Considering the last section of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diana_Kobzanov%C3%A1 , pictures would make this site not searchable by Google, I think...mikey wrote:"Please translate the entire feud from start to finish...with pics or gtfo."

No Jagr. You said that you'll play until 50. No takebacks.DigitalGypsy66 wrote:Tomas wrote:Source of the post It's 99.9% likely this will be my last NHL season

that .1% is him coming to PIT, right?

you're not done, Jags, until you score 86 points. Can't be that close to 2000 and quit. geez.iamjs wrote:No Jagr. You said that you'll play until 50. No takebacks.DigitalGypsy66 wrote:Tomas wrote:Source of the post It's 99.9% likely this will be my last NHL season

Think they have a hierarchy? Like, which one gets the Pens sweater and which is stuck with the Caps jersey?
