oh I for sure know it was nothing but careless but damn dude! you just hit someone at the base of their skull. a simple "oops! my bad!" would've calmed me down immediately.
karma did come around a few minutes later as he took a hard shot to the mask (not from me) and was down for a bit.

Longshot: No one knows anyone looking to play hockey at a Pittsburgh area college in the next year or two, do they?

My coworker's daughter's boyfriend (I think?) went to some USA hockey tryout on the day of the CrowdStrike issues. I don't know if he's going NCAA route or JRs route though. I can check tomorrow.

Otherwise, I can't even think of schools you would be considering outside of RMU. Pitt club? Slippery Rock or whatever Cal U became?

Forgot about them. Looks like most of their guys are out of state.

Yeah, I just figured that maybe some local-ish folks here might have something too. If Chatham is even remotely on the radar for that kid, I'd love to pass him and his contact info along to an advisor (not agent, of course...ahem). No obligation to you or to the player.

I'd score some points for it, certainly haha

He's a goalie (so I don't know if that changes things), but he's currently undecided. From what my coworker said, he's thinking D1 or bust at this point. RMU might be a consideration if they show interest.

Word. It’s a pretty low end D3 program but maybe they’ll pick up steam now that they’re investing in the Hunt Armory. Can’t think of anyone at the moment though

I feel like the answer is probably just "any will work", but:

If I wanted to cut down a stick that was an inch or two too long for my tastes, does a specific type of saw work better for that than any others?

Never had to cut one before so not sure if there's a "best" option.

I've almost exclusively used a hacksaw because that's what I've always had around...

we just use a basic saw. cutting it down will decrease the flex but an inch or two shouldn't make a huge difference.

It's a 77 flex so I doubt it's going to feel hugely different lol

This is being used for ball hockey lol.

My main is a 77 flex Warrior with the Karlsson curve, and they stopped making it like 3 years ago. Ordered a Malkin Pro from ProStockHockey (it was on sale for like $50 lol) and it's as close as I can get, with a slightly deeper pocket. It's just a hair too long for not being on skates and feels awkward to shoot with.

Kinda weird how much that extra inch throws things off.

First mite tournament in the books. Pretty great weekend. Won 2 lost 2, all 4 games were lopsided. Hard to tell what level teams should play at in these things. One team looked like a bunch of inhouse leaguers. Another was zipping the puck around like they’ve been playing together for years (from Long Island playing down, go figure)

We have 1 player on our team who played last year. So pretty great result all things considered and the best part is half of them couldn’t even tell you if they’re winning 10-1 or losing 10-1 lol

Welcome to 8U. Was this cross ice or full ice? Our 8U this year has found they dominate full ice games then get worked in cross ice.

We had this weekend off. First weekend off since September 15 and last one off until December 21

Cross ice - but the rink we played at had a “puddle” sheet that was a little smaller than a typical cross ice and we had to play 4 on 4 instead of 3 on 3. So there wasn’t a ton of room out there. We definitely play better with more space - dominated a scrimmage earlier this year where the dividers were at the red line

Little anecdote - our goalie is hit or miss with regard to whether he feels like playing. His dad is my assistant and he refuses to listen to him - he listens to me but I want to pick my spots so I don’t lose him too. Yesterday’s consolation game he wasn’t feeling it so he gave up the first 4 shots without moving and then pokechecked the puck off one of our own players sticks intentionally. I think his dad’s soul left his body after that one so I had to get him going after the period and he settled in and only gave up one more the rest of the game haha. Mites, man

@meow ADM practices are taking years off my life. 6 stations / 50 minutes / 70 kids / 15 coaches. Migraine, no voice, physically exhausted after every week.

Wouldn’t trade it for the world
