truth. for me, it's not even the popcorn but that nasty butter powder that I can't stand.
anyone tried Opop? I'm guessing their butter is powdered too?

Opened a small jar of tapenade last Halloween. Used 2 tablespoons. Replaced the lid. It's been in the fridge since then. Expiration reads end of this November. Can i eat it?

Tasted some i think it tastes normal

I think the expiration date is assuming it was never opened. I would guess there's some sort of label saying "consume within x days/weeks after opening".

If it's a high enough salt content, I would guess it's fine. But who knows. Up to you.

Unless/until it is visibly growing things on it, I'll give it a go.

Thanks. Yeah agreed. I was looking for a consume by date. But with salty stuff like this i went for it. It smelled fine. Scooped the top inch off and trashed it. It was for my girlfriend's orange squash stew so it will be spread out across ingredients

Seconded. I think it would be salty and oily enought to resist spoilage.

I found out yesterday that one of my coworkers ate a yogurt 6 months past the expiration date. Another one tried a taste of it and apparently it tasted fine.

I just felt disgusted by it lol

Moral of the story is, apparently the expiration dates are just suggestions and who the **** knows what's right anymore.

There are plenty of bacteria that can **** you up but don't affect the smell or taste of food. I'm a big time follower of expiration dates, to an annoying degree. I'll run to the store and spend the money on a replacement before eating something that's even a day past the date.

We went to/called 6 stores including 2 Italian grocers. None anywhere. I mostly agree with you but certain things I'm more adventurous about.

Neither "sell by" nor "use by" dates have anything to do with food safety. They're quality markers.

Opopop is pretty good. The butter/oil mix is solid (palm oil at room temperature) , you spoon it out of the tray and into the silicone popper with the kernels

I usually apply the theory that there's a buffer period anyway, as they wouldn't want to risk something "going bad" on the same day as the date, or even the day after.

I need a AITH call here on myself in regards to my SIL.

So my SIL maybe 5 ish months ago started taking Ozempic. She was a bit on the larger side (from having 4 kids), but not like super obese or anything. She had no other pre-existing conditions (diabetes, PCOS etc) to need it. Normally this wouldn't bother me...she is lazy and I know that's why she is taking it because she doesn't want to actually learn how to lose weight properly. In any event like I said this normally wouldn't bother me other than she is baseline annoying.

What bothers me is she won't shut up about the stupid shot. She will say I'm just not hungry cause I took my shot yesterday...or I know I should eat something but I just can't because of the shot. Like it never ends. Anytime we eat she's like I know I should eat more I haven't really eaten anything today but I can't because I'm just not hungry because of the shot.....it just goes on and on. I don't know why it annoys me but it does. I think she has lost around 45lbs so far?

My wife and I have also been losing weight, no ozempic or anything obviously. Neither of us have a reason to use it as we don't have any medical conditions. Eat less, move more....you know the normal stuff that works. It takes every fiber in my body to not say something to my SIL every time she opens her mouth about the stupid shot. She could just actually do it the normal way, but she's lazy. She doesn't want to actually move. She has changed no habits about anything she does or eats. I want her to stop taking the shot and gain it all back to be honest.

AITA?

NTA. You are reacting normally to this sort of thing imo. Is there any way to spend less time with your sister in law? That would probably help exponentially.

Just take solace in the fact that as soon as she stops taking the shot, the weight will return.

Oh, and NTA, though if you do blow up at her and tell her she's lazy, you might teeter into YTA/ESH territory.

She's annoying and you're annoyed. Pretty natural I'd guess.

I remember a dude in high school that was super smart. Pretty much everything, he got it right away and had no need to study, no need to work, no need to put in any real effort. He would always brag about how he didn't even study but still got straight A's. Yeah? Good for you... other people have to put in some work to get their marks up. I think that's sort of what you're dealing with here.

I have no problem with someone not studying and getting good grades (or taking a shot to lose weight). That's awesome. Good job. But going on and on about it? Nah. Pass.

Your last line there... "I want her to stop taking the shot and gain it all back to be honest." That makes you the ahole here.

Haha....I wish we could but for the most part if we want to see our nieces and nephew (unless they are spending the night at our house) she is always around.

@nocera I don't think I will ever blow up at her and actually say anything. I've kept my cool around her for years on various things that she does that annoyes me/us

Even if I just think the above and don't actually say it to her I'm still the ahole?

Like if it was any other human besides her I wouldn't even care...just baseline annoyance with her is super high so that is probably what tips the scale to me being super annoyed.
