This stuff sucks... it's powdery so it's blowing like crazy and when you step on it, it compacts down in to a solid sheet that is slippery AF. I couldn't get my car up the driveway when I went home for lunch and then when I parked on the street and walked it, I face planted. Hope everyone stays safe out there.

Surprised the kid had school today.

Our lights stayed up, but other smaller things got blown over and I even had bricks on some of them (in addition to the stakes). We were getting 40+mph gusts all night and even into today. The snowman on our porch I have surrounded by chairs now and bricks so it doesn't go anywhere. The small tree on our porch keeps blowing over no matter what I do.

I would definitely really tether down/add extra to your big skeleton guy if nothing else.
I reluctantly took down the two LED trees we had outside, because I didn't want to risk anything. As for our Skelly, I actually bought an anchor kit for him after he fell over last month, so we'll see how he does.

@AuthorTony, FYI, this is the anchor kit I bought for mine: https://secureaskelly.com. Easy to install with him assembled, and seems sturdy.

I took a hard fall in our driveway this morning at 6 am with bricks in my hand because I didn't realize it was that icy. Fun way to start the day.

That looks pretty sweet. My big guys stand in my gravel driveway, so I can't stake them down. I run guy wires from the pelvis, then attach them to cinder blocks. It gets the job done, but it doesn't look pretty with the wires tied around them. That looks much more finished. I think I'll snag one for next year.

I figured for $49 it was worth grabbing. You can obviously get all of the parts minus the brackets at HD/Lowe's, but not only are you paying close to the same, but you then have to assemble the cables, etc. a and then figure how how to secure it to the Skelly. I think this dude is machining the aluminum brackets, or found something online that fits perfectly and bought them in bulk. I'm sure you could figure something out if push came to shove, but this was a no brainer for me. Supposed to have wind gusts of 60mph tonight, so I'll let you know how he fares in the morning.

Glad I grabbed an extra gallon of milk when this started. Grocery stores have been insane. Good luck finding eggs or milk anywhere within 1/2 hour drive.

And to add insult to injury:

That amount of snow is just insane. I saw than train colliding with that rig yesterday. It just blows my mind, as to why so many drivers think it’s ok to stop right on the tracks. :face:

I don't even know if we had any wind last night, just that I likely wasted my time by taking decorations down.

The first time I watched this, I had to laugh because the train blasting its horn after contact sounded like it was spiking the football after a touchdown.

There was a period of rain around 3:30am that sounded like it was going to pound straight through our roof. The wild part is that it was only 2-3 minutes long, and would completely stop for a few seconds, then back to 100%.

Picked up an inch and a half of snow last night, first of the season. Kids were excited (OK, I was too  )

Now for the deep freeze.

Yeah, not thrilled about this at all. My neighbor and I were talking the other day about how he bought an ego blower so that he could go out and take care of the snow earlier without waking people up. Thought he was joking until I heard him out there at 6:30 this morning.

It was a faint whine, so considerably quieter than I expected.

I have an ego snow blower - love it. Doesn't throw the snow the greatest, but I live on top of a hill so I'm fighting a no win battle to begin with. Usually all ends up in my face or going the other direction.

That's a serious band moving down 79. The kind of band sudden pileups are made of.

Had to shovel for the first time in a few years this morning. Also realized that we’re out of salt. Snow is the worst.
