I like Trouba a ton...and I'm not one to really jump out of my skin after a game or two or even a few weeks...but there may be an opportunity here...the Jets need a LHS d-man, we need a RHS d-man...he also brings some snarl to the team...I really like this player, but Maatta is on a sweetheart deal, even if he's only a second pairing d-man...no guarantee that Trouba fits in our cap situation...
Then, of course, you go down the road of who is worth more, do we get some goaltending involved...that's not a bridge I'm ready to cross as I have no interest in trading Marc-Andre Fleury for at least several months, if at all this season...but I can guarantee you in Winnipeg, an arena that seats some 15,000 I think, they're probably not thrilled at the $4.75 million in real cash sitting in the AHL right now in Ondrej Pavelec...he holds negative value...but that gets real hairy as we're not brimming with cap space...

At the end of last year I was dead set on him finishing his career here. I noticed while watching the opener that I don't mind the idea of him leaving now. He already took a team friendly resigning, I can't expect him to take less even though he'll be doing less as Murray gets more time.mikey wrote:Source of the post no interest in trading Marc-Andre Fleury for at least several months, if at all this season...

Yeah, I don't know about down the line...but I'm not gonna be (making any moves as I'm not the GM) spooked by this expansion draft...the goal is to win another Stanley Cup, we can deal the consequences of that later...we're running out of prime for 87 and 71...

In August of next year, Crosby will become the last player of "the core four" to turn 30. Letang turns 30 in April, and Malkin and Fleury are already 30. Fleury will actually be 32 in November
It's actually kind of weird that Kessel is almost 3 months younger than Sid

Fleury plays tonight. (We'll face Al Montoya on Tuesday in Montreal. Indigo is 2-4-1 against the Pens lifetime with a 3.89 and a 88.8% save rate)
Reid Gardiner ('96) signs with WBS. 43 goals/92 points last year with Prince Albert in the Dub. For those who like those scouting rankings pages...Gardiner was 29th on the Final Ranking for North American Skaters in 2014 and went unselected. He was ranked towards the bottom of the same list in 2015 as well...
Not very big nor a very good skater. He has pretty flawed skating mechanics. But he can shoot. Not a bad flyer to keep around. I'd say he's the equivalent of getting a 4th or 5th round prospect in the organization without using a draft pick or even a contract spot. He's a long shot to play in the NHL (pending progression in a pro system with much more plentiful resources than an outpost team like Prince Albert). I should note, with all that said, he is not Penguin property. An NHL team can make an offer if they so choose...

Mikey, I have always respected your posts. But seriously did you have to use the word snarl? i just had LGP flashbacks of CG because of thatmikey wrote:I like Trouba a ton...and I'm not one to really jump out of my skin after a game or two or even a few weeks...but there may be an opportunity here...the Jets need a LHS d-man, we need a RHS d-man...he also brings some snarl to the team...I really like this player, but Maatta is on a sweetheart deal, even if he's only a second pairing d-man...no guarantee that Trouba fits in our cap situation...

Hagelin Jr. on waivers today from Anaheim...Mason Raymond...if we want to be even faster but with ten times more spills and this weird move where he kind of just corkscrews himself into the ice when turning right too hard, he's available...and he's absolutely freeeeeeeeeeee /bill burr

I just wandered into the Fleury/Murray thread on HF... what a mistake.
I'm glad this team is not run by anyone in that thread.

This goalie "controversy" will work itself out without anyone stressing over it.

Forgive me for not having paid close attention to camp... did Sprong get sent back to Juniors? I scrolled through all the camp cuts and never saw his name. He's shown on the "In the System" page but I presume he's still too young for WBS (and is not on their roster)?

Sprong had should surgery and will be out until probably February.
